From code enforcement. They are the owners of the dilapidated building actually sitting @ 4 Corners. They will most likely refuse to fix it up or rip it down until they're allowed to do what they want.

If no one has read the minutes of the planning meeting I suggest they do. From what I read I think very legitimate concerns have been raised and decision to not recommend approval is justified. CVS has sent request to TB for review and meeting to present their case. Mr. Severson made some comments, which obviously irritated a few of the residents. Here's the part that confused me, however, with his comments:

Now, I have been wrong many times in my life, and again I may be wrong.....but isn't Mr. Severson the one that said the residents were objecting becuase it's CVS and now saying he has "heard", "read" that comment and doesn't believe it's true! So the first time "HE" makes the comment and the next time "HE" claims others have made the comment and doesn't believe it's true! Pretty slick double talking smoke and mirrors.
But seriously, everyone should take time to read the minutes....I think it was well done! I'm sure DVOR or HAMBURGER or new Alter-ego's wil chime in for me to GFMyself, etc., and skirt the issue and deny everything.....oh, well....to be expected from "imbiciles" !!!
CVS appears to be exempt for all codes in rotterdam. And as far as the homes next to it....I'd have to guess that they were notgoing to invest one more dime into these homes, in hopes that cvs will be their cash cow and knock them down.
CVS has already proven what a good neighbor they are to rotterdamians. NOT!! That building, right in the middle of town, at a busy intersection, surrounded by residential homes, has looked like a sh!thole for years and years. As soon as CVS bought that property, the homes right next to it stopped doing anything to keep up their property hoping that someday cvs would buy them up!
Now IF cvs gets the nod to build on that corner, they have already said that they will vacate the one at the 5 corners. So CVS will just be shifting one sh!thole to another area!
CVS has already proven that they are not a responsible 'good neighbor'. They don't want to sign a new lease at 5 corners...they want to knock rite aid out.......they don't give a crap about rotterdamians!! It doesn't take a rocket scientist here folks!!

CVS Pharmacy will appeal to members of the Rotterdam Town Board for a controversial zone change at Guilderland Avenue and Curry Road, after the town Planning Commission opposed the company’s latest revision to the project. The company had proposed blocking off Lawndale Avenue shortly before the road’s intersection with Guilderland Avenue. The remaining piece of Lawndale would then be snaked into the lot proposed for the new pharmacy, giving it an exit onto Guilderland Avenue. But commission members continued to have concerns about the traffic impact on the already congested intersection. Neighbors also voiced opposition to the revised proposal, arguing that it would encroach deeply into a residential area. “It’s back in the lap of the Town Board now,” said Tom Yuille, commission chairman. CVS is hoping to turn the corner into a two-story, 13,225-square-foot building with an 80-spot parking lot. If that is approved, the pharmacy would close locations at Rotterdam’s five corners intersection and on Broadway. Board members will have the ultimate say on the proposed zone change. Donald Zee, an attorney representing CVS, has requested board members bring the issue to a vote during their meeting next week. Commission recommendations are non-binding and are occasionally overturned by the board. In 2010, board members voted in favor of a controversial zone change at the Rotterdam Housing Area, allowing Sync Realty to legally lease out apartments in the former military housing complex. “It isn’t something that is unusual,” said Zee, who represented Sync against the town. “It’s happened in the past.” Zee is also hoping the board is attracted to the fiscal impact of the proposed CVS.
