Does anyone know the capacity of the recovery and how many parking spots they have established, including how many are designated handicap for the restaurant and the bank, minus the number of spots that both businesses will need for employees?  Might be interesting!

Good point. But I believe that NYS has laws on the books regarding this. Parking spaces are suppose to be established based on capacity.

Dunzy's was Ferris restaurant before it became Dunzy's. Parking there was never adequate. But remember.......that is rotterdam!!

Actually, that is none of your business.

He probalby does not do business with it.  He just cheers for any and all business that is funded with taxpayer money.    Give millionaires the taxpayer's money because, you know, a millionaire just CANNOT open a new location unless the taxpayer foots the whole bill.   He claims that tax exemptions should be "rare" yet he cheers that EVERY Savage project is 100% tax exempt.   He claims that tax exemptions should be a "last resort" but yet the mlionaire have MORE THAN ENOUGH money to expand, move, etc, yet he cheers for the taxpayer who is at risk of losing their homes----just as long as the taxpayer with a household income pays the property taxes for the millioniares because having the poor support the rich is proper.

Yes, and DV,. what would Jesus do?   YOU CLAIM to be a Catholic, but WHERE did Jesus say for the low income people to support the rich?   Would Jesus tax low income people out of their homes as long as they paid the taxes for the rich?

And even like his dem president.....taking money from the average citizen and go on a wild spending spree with taxpayers money causing the debt go from $500 billion
to $14 trillion in only two years!

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Being vacant....such as a roundabout....IS an ideal situation!! Why wasn't it built on hamburg street. I'm sure hamburg street could have used the traffic. Rotterdam just replaced one beast with another! It's soooooooooo rotterdam!!!

Businesses are built that can be supported by the local community.

As for your Hamilton Hill comment -- a lot of fine people live in that neighborhood.

in the late 70's????

"a nice place to live"

why not a "nice place to live and work"  it is good for the environment and the town

this town screwed up in the 80's when 25a was added and now they are ready to continue on the same path

time has marched on - this town has a chance again to capitalize on the "toll free" freeway south and the bigigest dream our leaders have is of the scraps left by truck drivers

the economic benifit from professional offices is worth more per "sq ft/employee" than any retail or warehouse or truck stop

besides professional/semi professional jobs; donate to charity, visit proctors, buy retail items, eat, drink and pay taxes  - nearly a 2:1 advantage over non-professional;

sign should read  "Rotterdam 'family' business zoning enforced"

apparently you have never knocked on a door durring that time

and yes, some of my employees from that neighborhood were excelent individuls but "Crime Ruled the Day" and ruined a lot of property and families

respect was always treated with respect   - ie 134 Duane Avenue, Schenectady NY

I would not like to see the decline of hamilton hill happen to coldbrook or any other area of our town as my parents generation passes away and their
childern sell the properties for a quick $ and the neighborhoods decline

every boarded up house in our town is an invitation to lower property values - our leaders need to be proavtive and not let this happen, and it is happening, on broadway, on altamont ave, and on guilderland ave and maybe on upper mariaville rd accross from Coplon Rd(maybe not the boards but the lowering of property values)

If memory serves me correctly.....corporate commerce zoning was tried on rt7 in rotterdam and failed a few years ago. It would have been a perfect mix with schalmont school. Since then rotterdam has been in decline. Increased boarded buildings and high taxes, multi family housing everywhere......and now a new gin mill.

Professional businesses will more than likely opt for Malta/Saratoga, Colonie/Albany, perhaps even Nisky or Glenville. I don't think rotterdam would be on their list of options, as much as rotteramians may desire them.

Presently rotterdam is more suited for a free health clinic, social service satellite office and an attorney's pro bono office these days for professional offices. Rotterdam will have a long hard time trying to pull out of the hole they are in.

why did the town planning department approve to knock down like 8 local businesses in favor of a bar / restaurant ?

( Even more perplexing is that there was already a very good bar and restaurant there before!! )

I actually knew people who lived in Hamilton Hill in the 1970's -- in fact  ... I lived in Hamilton Hill in the
early 1970's with my parents and siblings.
I did not say that the neighborhood was not declining nor denied that it has problems --- what I said was
that the neighborhood had and still has many GOOD PEOPLE living there.

P

The "corporate commerce" zoning was proposed by Mertz and it has failed because that was NOT the kind
of zoning that would work well there.    There were many folks on the Burdeck Street-25A Study Committee
that tried to tell Mertz otherwise .. but the pig-headed nit-wit was convinced that only his idea was the
right one.   The guy was a disaster as a town board member.  One can only hope that he never is given
an opportunity to hurt the town again.

so just what keeps our leaders from cleaning up boarded up un-safe properties that the town takes the time to re-enforce the porch roof????

how about holding our schools to higher standards to encourage "live where you work"

schalmont has football and basketball - how about the 3R's

btw you dont have to take every deal that walks in the door -

rotterdam has always had problems with upholding standards

Are you blind?
Because it was vacant and rotting for the past 3 years!
The 8 businesses left because of the drug store that never happened.
