again you just say muhna-muhna.....follow it because they want you too....go ahead....be my guest....I ALWAYS PROD AND QUESTION..
apparently you take the road most traveled....

You are the one just posting idiotic responses ....   the FACT is that bank companies do NOT build a new
branch without doing exhaustive market research.    Berkshire Bank would NOT b building a new branch in
Rotterdam unless it thought it would be profitable.

Quite frankly, I doubt that you have the capacity to prod and question .. because you can't seem to understand basic common sense.

I KNOW they research...but dont you think they are researching past that? you know,,,,,,FUTURE? do you get that? do you?...as for
profitability, dont you want to know how and why? or do you just muhna-muhna and say OK whatever they say? and common sense
is just that...common. There is a bigger picture...dont you follow the fishing line to the person(s) casting it?

Apparently, it makes good business sense to them to open a branch in Rotterdam.  There really is no
reason to further discuss the issue.

And THAT would be the reason Rotterdam has no classy patina....no planning with style.....as long as the $$ goes into the pocket
that's as far as the planning has to go.....

there are so many banks in Rotterdam because there is one for each developer and gumba gangsta.....

what is the population to bank ratio here? it's just creepy.....

Obviously, Berkshire Bank did their research and determined that Rotterdam was a good place for a new
branch.  Banks do not build new branches willy nilly ... they do loads of research and don't build it unless they
believe they will make a profit.
You give them WAY TOO MUCH CREDIT !!!!  They must reinvest profits and sometimes that drives their decisions. Whatever happened to the bank moving to the old Edgewood?

You are absolutley correct. However, there is plenty of senior citizen money just sitting in banks in rotterdam. And the bank that is supposedly going into the old edgwood is just a relocation from the hannaford plaza.

That will be 5 banks in a 1-2 block area!!!

They should start giving away toasters again. With the pathetic interest rates the toaster could at least be a garage sale item. You have to wonder about sheeple that leave large amounts at such low interest rates. Everything counts in large amounts. Less disposable income, higher taxes and more banks branches? Did they also get a tax give away like the governmental gin mill?

Yet, the bank that MANY people in Rotterdam actually use, SEFCU, is located on Hamilton Hill or downtown on State (where parking sucks).  Go figure.

I wonder if the slow economy has a lot to do with these banks and cu's opening new places.  Within a 2 mile radius of my house there are 5 banks and 3 credit unions...2 of the banks and 1 of the cu's are new buildings built within the last year.  And now there is a new cu and another bank being built within the same radius.

Just trustco alone has a branch at the old curry rd shopping plaza, another next to the new an improved recovery gin mill and another one down the road in the hannaford plaza. There are 4 other banks and one credit union on that same stretch. WOW!

Pioneer Bank is moving onto the old Edgewood site.    They plan to take down the existing building as soon at the weather allows and to start construction soon after that.

Relax -- be patient -- they just got their final approvals in either November or December.

Bottomline ---     no bank would open a new branch unless it made financial sense for them to do it  --- for
those Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity and those in the Tea Party .. that simply put means  ... THEY WOULD NOT BUILD A NEW BRANCH UNLESS THEY WOULD MAKE A PROFIT DOING SO.

They are not building it to satisfy a "gumba" or any other idiotic suggestion that you folks have made.  They
build new branches to make money ...  PERIOD   END OF STORY.
