Now here is what doesn't make any sense whatsoever......There was a developer that was interested in the old grand union a few years ago for office space. 'Supposedly' they decided to take a pass on it. Reason....'supposedly' due to lack of sewers.

So let's get this straight.....That building housed large market chains successfully for 'how many years'? Did they move out because of 'no sewers'? NOPE! They moved out due to competition with price chopper that they couldn't compete with...not because of no sewers. In fact they closed most of their stores in NYS around the same time.

So are we being led to believe that an office building needs sewers to build and succeed more than a large market chain that uses, disposes of and flushes on a much larger scale??? WTF?

The area (rotterdam) is not a hot ticket item for businesses....FACT! The only way they would even think of setting up business in rotterdam (just like the city), is if they got a very lucrative tax incentive, at the taxpayer's expense, OR if they belonged to the 'friends and family club'!

Actually -- the fact is that an office building with hundreds  of workers working for 8 hour shifts would prefer
a sewer hook up to a septic system.

Furthermore,  developers of housing projects in the area .. prefer sewer hook up to a septic system.

The Rotterdam area is a PRIME areas for development   -- FACT   because
of its proximity to I-90, I-87, I-890 and I-88.     It also is a juncture for a few major rail lines.

The fact is that Rotterdam has lost out on a number of development projects because it does not have
sewers in place near its  interstate exits.

You can try to argue or pretend that it is not true --- the fact is --- it is sadly true.

Rotterdam is a small gossipy town. You or anyone else is not privie to anything that others don't already know.....TRUST ME!!

One doesn't have to be 'involved' to know the goings on in rotterdam. This forum is proof enough of that!!

I am privy to what some information that was shared with me a close friend who is a nationally known

given to me by people whom are in a position to know.    I am also privy to information that I learned while
trying to market a property in the Hamburg Street area.

Then why, in the past year of the current administration, hasn't the issue come up? Why haven't "they" (those that occupy town hall) petitioned Metroplex or the IDA to assist with the improvements that would allow business to come to these areas? ONE Metroplex / IDA loan or project would insure that the entire Hamburg St or Rt 7 corridor has a sewer line, opening up a MULTITUDE of opportunities for new businesses (that don't need handouts)?  Why - because that's not the issue.  The issue is, among other things, taxes in Schenectady County.

It is not for lack of lobbying the administration on the need for the sewers.    Lack of eewers is a huge
issue ...    your insisting on living in a state of denial  does not make it less true.

You are mixing apples and oranges dvr. I88 is prime for development....NOT THE OLD GRAND UNION OR ROLLING GREENS!!! Stay on topic.....k?

'Preferring' sewers over septic does NOT mean that it won't work!
Bradt school does just fine......yes?
The golub warehouse does just fine.......yes?
SI group does just fine.....yes?
Mclanes distribution was bitting at the bit to build on rt7.....WITH NO SEWERS!!!!.....yes?

Hey, I'm all for sewers....but don't sell people a line of crap (no pun intended) that it can't work without sewers.

Golub has its own system -- not just a run of the mill septic system.

the McClane's proposal started waaaay back about 6 years ago -- when John Paolino was trying to get
funds for sewer lines up Burdeck Street and out Route 7

and -- the businesses that I personally know that were interested --- none would consider the locations
unless there were sewers

oh --- and   I will explore the topic in whatever way I choose ...  K ?????

Maybe FDG can pull up his BACKHOE and start digging
]
then we can lots for flow to the BROKEN plant right next to the wonderful BASEBALL fields

I do agree however something needs to be done, but, it is not the current sewer users fault that town leadership was not willing to maintain a sewer plant

This will be the podium puck between the county, city, rotterdam........let's see who's fault it is...let's see who the savior will be.....
Metroplex can come in with their cheerleaders......then a 'friend purchase' is made.......just dont let it be the mold that hangs on...

Sewers is NOT keeping businesses out of the hamburg st area........rotterdam as a whole is!
It will be interesting to see how the 'county dispatch at the old grand union' rumor plays out in the future.

The recovery gin mill would have served rotterdam better if it all, if it was placed on hamburg street.

Hamburg St proximity to the City is a bigger problem than lack of sewers. It's too close to Mt Pleasant/Hamilton Hill. The rot is seeping over the town line. Under Landslide Savage and her puppets the entire County needs a double flush.

And this is why the towns people need to get involved in city government as well as their own. The city's mishandling and failure to better schenectady is a joke. Rotterdam and nisky are now feeling the fall out of the downturn schenectady has taken.

Remember....no matter where you live in schenectady county.........you are all still schenectadians!!
