It was a well thought out TRI-FECTA!!!!

And depending on who one is friends with.....will determine who supports who!!!
The development isn't the issue........it's how it was transpired!
It don't take a rocket scientist here!

ROTTERDAM AT IT'S FINEST!!!

I guess I'm really not getting your analogy or point.

Perhaps you'd care to enlighten me?   Tri-Fecta?

Residents are entitled to quality of life....they way the TOWN is planned it's a freakin' puzzle...

find a spot.....build on it.....will promote revenue....yeah right....why didn't they build where

Papa John's ...Sports Bar....K mart plaza...Campbell Road....

CVS closed at Shoporama and on Hamburg St....another way of building a CVS the size of

WALMart.

just don't feel it is necessary.....it will turn that intersection into a nightmare...

Need more planning where business is going.....

that's just a common resident talking....  Thank goodness Walmart wasn't build on Burdeck St.

people had their say in that....

YOU may not feel like they should be on that corner, but it IS zoned commercial - and Im 100% certain they've done their homework to determine the best location for their best interests.  If there was money to be made in the other locations you mentioned, I'm sure they would have considered them ... they've planned, I'm sure.

Perhaps if another tavern opened on that corner, you'd like it more?  It's perfectly legal, and may not even need a zone change as it was previously a bar.  Would they be a better neighbor?  Perhaps it's a scaled down CVS - but they do twice the business as a bigger one - would that be more acceptable?  Perhaps you want another gas station on that corner?  How about another pizza shop, with 24 hour delivery and kid-drivers coming in/out at top speed? Perhaps a planned parenthood (or, God forbid a Right to Life group!) ? Maybe you want that corner to be another not for profit - or a DSS extension office? Perhaps a group home for the less fortunate?  All could be possibilities.

Consider the lesser of the evils - consider the town tax base - consider what will bring business INTO Rotterdam rather than vacant corners that stand undeveloped for YEARS.

People speakign up against the project have all said they are for buisness on the corner not just a large buisness that shuns the neighborhood which is what the plan does by having the backside of the buiding facing Lawndale.

Let's face it...................Rite aid OR CVS will leave a vacant building behind in the next couple of years at the 4 corners!! And clearly no one is going to come to rotterdam just to go to a cvs or a rite aid for that matter.

This will also NOT increase the tax base since it is just another re-location from their 5 corners location to the 4 corners location. Bottom line is....only those in the TRI-FECTA came out the winners!

But hell..............that's rotterdam....so no big surprise!!

Put up a row of evergreen trees to block the view of the back of the store or a decent looking fence well maintained would also help.

Everybody remember that tonight at 7:30, Ronnie and the Ronettes get together to do what they know best, rip apart neighborhoods by helping to expand the tax base at the planning commission meeting.  The 4 Corners CVS is on the agenda at the planning commission.

I am speaking not about taxes, bars, etc.,....growth is great...business is great...

but I have a problem where CVS is building....they have to compete with Rite Aid....

and that's across the street....fine and dandy...but there are better areas in the town to build on.

The planning committee is a farce....business in Rotterdam is like a puzzle....and there was no

foresight in planning from past Administrations....

I do not drink and there are enough bars and pizza parlors in this town....

your sermon to me was unnecessary....there is no change in my opinion...and never will be

Curry Rd Plaza.....Grand Union Bldg....and other vacant buildings....why not there???

everything is caught up in red tape....and that my friend has everyone by the throat.

AND another thing....just who are these people on the planning committee???

We know one for sure is not qualified to make decisions .....

You obviously have no understanding of the ACTUAL ROLE of the Planning Commission.  It is NOT the economic development office -- it does not go out and recruit developers.
Developers and property owners must come to the planning commission when they (the developer or property owner) have a proposal/application.  The Commission reviews and makes decisions on applications (for everything from new construction to using an existing building for a different purpose to subdividing properties .. etc etc) MADE BY DEVELOPERS AND PROPERTY OWNERS.

As for your disparaging comments about members being unqualified --- I challenge you to prove that any member of the commission is not  LEGALLY qualified to serve on the commission.     Which member(s) is(are) not an actual resident of the town?  Which member(s) was(were) not appointed by a majority vote of the Town Board?  Which member(s) have not completed the required hours of annual training?
