Once again, thank you to the Admin of this Forum for posting the video.   As I recall, the attorney MG didn't see any of this when he visited...Very interesting.

So what is the current Board going to do about this?

I am sure that the Doog isn't going to do anything about it. He is too busy trying to get elected to the
school board tomorrow.  KR is doing her best to keep him off the school board because he is hiding information
regarding EE, no ethics problems there.....

The following is from the Town of Rotterdam Code, Chapter 222 to be exact:

§ 222-1 Purpose.

By the enactment of this chapter, the Town Board of the Town of Rotterdam declares its intent in so doing to be to regulate and control the operation of certain racetracks involving go-cart races, stock car races and similar racing events between motor vehicles, motorcycles, motor scooters, midget autos and other vehicles. It is enacted in the interests of the inhabitants of the Town of Rotterdam so as to protect the life and property of persons in the vicinity of such events, to prevent unreasonable loud noises, dust and dirt sometimes produced by such tracks which could be detrimental to the peace, welfare and good order of the people of the Town of Rotterdam, and to prevent the disturbance of the peace and quiet of the Town from the operation of such tracks. In addition it is the further purpose of the Town Board in enacting this chapter to promote the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the Town of Rotterdam. Therefore, recognizing the above and the need for regulating the racetracks above described and in the exercise of its police power in these regards, the Town Board of the Town of Rotterdam does hereby enact the following chapter.

§ 222-6 Operation.

A. The permittee must personally operate, manage and be responsible for the operation of the racetrack for which the permit is granted.
B. The permittee shall at all times maintain in full force and effect a public liability insurance policy in amounts not less than $500,000 for damages in which one person is killed or injured and not less than $1,000,000 for damages in which more than one person is killed or injured. Such policy shall bear an endorsement thereon extending the benefits thereof to the interests of the Town of Rotterdam as they may appear or as they may subsequently be determined to exist.

[Amended 3-12-1986 by L.L. No. 4-1986]
C. The permittee may operate the racetrack for which the permit is granted on weekdays only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., and on Sundays only between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
D. The permittee shall not at any time allow the operation of the racetrack for which the permit is granted to be conducted in such a manner as to cause unreasonably loud or disturbing noises of such a character, intensity or duration as to be detrimental to the peace, welfare or good order of the people of the Town of Rotterdam or in such a manner as to cause disturbing, noisy, riotous or tumultuous conduct within the Town. Loudspeakers, announcing devices, horns and other noise-producing devices shall not at any time be operated in such manner as to disturb the occupants of the premises in the vicinity of the racetrack and shall be so toned down or muffled or subdued that the sound therefrom shall not carry more than 500 feet from the perimeter of the track in all directions.

But town officials are not convinced that the property is being used for races. Town Attorney Michael Godlewski said he visited the property last weekend along with several other town officials and didn’t see any evidence of races

at a town board meeting, if i remember correctly, some of our elected official paid a visit to the property before 8am and reported "we didnt see anything"

maybe they will remove that section of the town code to promote economic development

A nice campaign/party contribution will be made and this will get swept under the carpet.

BTW, how's the landfill cleanup going - that's all done, right? /tic

It wouldn't be in my backyard, because when I bought my home, I made sure it was in a place where Price Chopper couldn't build a warehouse, racetracks couldn't be made and my quality of life would be preserved.

As long as the Town continues its policy of spot zoning, no one is immune to these problems.  Rotterdam is to densely populated to support industrial expansion (not that there is any), and race tracks.  If you Google Earth the area you will see a well defined course and quad runner tracks, it's a no-brainer that it is a track in close proximity to residential, and its continued operation is disruptive and egregious to the people who live in the area.  Exactly what the Code was designed to address!

This administration is no different than the last administration they both have stomach trouble, no guts. Look how the burning and cutting of all those trees in Masullo was handled and this issue will be treated the same because the politicians are afraid to enforce the laws for fear of losing votes IMHO. Welcome to Rotterdam where only the connected get taken care of.

The residents need to band together against the incompetence and hold the administration's feet to the fire.  The race track is a simple solution, enforce the Code.  All of the necessary language has already been crafted, just shut the track down and fine the shi! out of those that violate the Code.  Here's the real problem, the administration "doesn't have a hair you know where"!

I think you are missing the point.

First....there are codes in place for racetrack issues. If the property owner wants to pursue a racetrack, than they should apply for a zoning change. Go through the process!

Second.....Godlewski and others from the town board, stated in a gazette article, that they went to the location and saw no evidence that would support a racetrack. The only way I could support that statement is to say they are all legally blind.

There have been past issues with this property owner before. It will be interesting to see how this town board handles this issues. But first I would suggest this town board go to Lens Crafters and get their eyes checked.
