Disparaging remarks about our youngsters who engage in fundraising activities exposes you for the SCUM that you are..  How DARE you call the young ladies who attend Schalmont of being prostitutes and strippers. You are a despicable a**hole!

The watering ban has only been a minor nuisance.   You can still water your gardens and plants by hand or hose.  The lawn still looks great because we cut it on the highest setting rather than scalping it on the lowest setting.  A few more days and the ban will be over.

WRONG DV!!!    You CANNOT water by hose during this ban!!!!!     I DEFY you to prove proof that you can use a hose.

Water by hand????    Are you going to hold your weenie with your hand and squirt on the garden?

And you wouldn't know anything anyway about mowing a lawn because you don't do it yourself.

Few days and the ban will be over?   Sure hope so, but, just remember, there was a ban last week which was to be over on Friday of last week.   What happened?   A new one was announced.   It's supposed to be over next Tuesday, then can you GUARANTEE there will NOT be another one announced?

You like to accuse others (municipal employees, police, etc) of "sitting on their asses" -- yet you are "sitting on your a**" by not reporting the offenders when you see them.  So stop complaining and attacking others, do YOUR DUTY as a citizen to report the 20 or so people that you have seen watering by the dark of the night.

HOLY CRAP!!!! Next time I catch a flight I want to recruit you to sit next to me to 'watch out' for them there terrorists...

The watering ban applies to watering of lawns.  It does not apply to watering by hose (not by sprinkler) your vegetable gardens or flower beds.  And, you can always water with watering can.

Interesting...I don't see "watering of lawns" in this bulletin. And not using a sprinkler is a very loose and irresponsible interpretation of the ban from someone who is a paid member of this town's planning committee. It's very clear that the ban is a result of equipment issues, so watering of ANYTHING with a sprinkler or any other method you choose to use WILL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE EQUIPMENT.

Attention Residents

Effective immediately, July 9, 2012, the Town of Rotterdam will be enforcing a water conservation measure due to equipment failure.
There will be a watering ban in the Town of Rotterdam from now until July 17, 2012
On Wednesday, July 18, 2012 we will resume our regular water sprinkling regulations

Except that the ban refers to "unnecessary watering" such as using a sprinkler to water the lawn, washing cars and similar "unnecessary watering".  You can choose to believe me or not but I checked into the matter and I am certain that I am correct in my statement.

Quoted from Admin

Town residents are being asked to forego watering their lawns and gardens until Tuesday after a failed pump motor left its largest water district in short supply this week.
Clark Collins, the town’s senior water treatment plant operator, said more than two weeks of non-stop pumping caused the aging motor to falter earlier this week. As a result, he said the district’s water capacity has since struggled to keep up with residential demand, which spiked at more than 9 million gallons a day before the outage — the district’s water usage averages around 3.5 million gallons per day during the winter.

So, do we believe a non-property owner member of the town planning board, or the senior water treatment plant operator?

I called Town Hall today after having been told that the ban had been LIFTED because repairs were completed, unfortunately, they were already closed for the weekend.

Fine, so provide us with verification. I posted exactly what was on the town website, and it does not support your statement...if there is some other more detailed document, provide it.

Watering a garden by hose or watering with a watering can is NOT a violation of the ban.  As for the allegations made by Mack that somehow I was breaking the watering ban -- he is just an out and out liar.  We haven't watered our lawn since the ban took effect.  We do not have a vegetable garden this year.  And - we watered our outdoor plants with a watering can.

Oh -- and it is a lie that I am not a property owner.  I do own property but it is not in this town.

Someone told me today that some car washes 'recycle' their water. Anyone know if that's true?

Also, DVR is correct folks!! Using a hose or watering can is not in violation of the watering ban....just sprinklers. If DVR is wrongthan so are the folks who told me the same thing.

So stick a nozzle on the end of your hose, stake it in the ground and water your lawn and you're not in violation?!?!? .....how absurd. How is that less of a load on the equipment. Who thinks these things up, really.

I believe the car wash on Curry does recycle and also the Squirts on Chrysler.
