My brother in law's neighbor said he heard that fdg said that all of the historical material for rotterdam is gone. Should have been at the senior center for safe keeping......but wasn't.

I'm sure it lives in wine bottles around town....oh wait,,,,I mean money barrels in their basements.....after all that's how we got such a large police force....that's what I learned about Rotterdam's history talking to REAL elders.....
INTERESTING...VERY VERY INTERESTING

All of Rotterdam's historical records and artifacts are safe in town hall and the senior center.   As for the personal collection of the former Town Historian  ---- when an effort was made to send a town employee to pick and take the material to the senior center .. it was refused   .. and I have made several attempts to get a hold of the owner of the collection but his phone is not working and his home was empty.

It's really sad to hear that the town historian didn't have a chance over a time period of eight months to go and visit all the parts of town to make sure they had all the necessary items where they would be safe.  Instead, we have lost a part of history, literally.

fdg said it is ALL gone!! but what doesn't make sense is....why would the past rotterdam historian REFUSE to hand it over to the new rotterdam historian?? Was it the past rotterdam historians personal stuff? If not...couldn't someone have demanded this stuff?

It is obvious that Mr. DelGallo is NOT aware of all the facts.   The towns historical records and artifacts are safe and sound .. at the town hall and the senior center.

The former town historian had amassed - on his own - additional historical artifacts and kept them in his home..... and last winter indicated to me that he intended to give them to the Franchere Center.   IF he had intended to give them to the town,  arrangements would have been made to bring them to the senior center  -------------------------although the space in the senior center is neither safe or ideal  (basically .. it is in the basement furnace room).   The space in the town hall is a  ground-level storage room.

I have asked a number of times if a more appropriate space could be found to house the historical records and artifacts  --- but never got any response.

As for the situation after the flooding -- I have explained that already  --- and am still attempting to contact the former town historian.

Finally --- if Mr. DelGallo was so concerned about that collection --- why did it take him TEN DAYS to have someone from his office contact me --- he and the office have ALL of my contact information.   I could have been reached at any time on my cell phone when I was out of town.

It is NOT the town worker's fault ... because the town worker was sent to pick up the materials and was turned down.

So even though the past historian handed the task over to a new historian.......he wouldn't turn the material over?
Did this historic material 'belong' to the past historian or was it the property of the town?
How many times in 8-10 months did the town worker go to retrieve this historical material?
And can we assume that since it was a 'taxpaid' town worker who was summons to pick this stuff up, it WAS in fact the property of the town...under the supervision and care of the new historian.......yes?

simple question....should be a simple answer.
