The Schenectady County Real Property Tax Service Agency is an independent, statutory Agency that exists to provide services that assist local government officials in achieving and maintaining equitable assessment administration.  We provide the resources that accomplish this function as well as the expertise to assist localities in accomplishing equitable assessment adminstration.

The goal of equitable assessment administration is to provide a sound, reliable, fair and easily understood foundation for the determination of the real property tax.


REAL PROPERTY TAX SERVICE AGENCY - NEWS

The Schenectady County Real Property Tax Service Agency Image Mate Online property information is updated to include the 2009 Final Assessment Roll Information.  The 2009 Final Assessment Roll is for the following municipalities; Town of Duanesburg, Town of Glenville, Town of Niskayuna, Town of Rotterdam, Village of Delanson, Village of Scotia.  The Town of Princetown 2009 Final Assessment Roll is not available at this time.

For current assessment or property tax information for property within the City of Schenectady, you must contact the City of Schenectady Assessor's office @ (51 382-5075 or the City of Schenectady Finance office @ (51 382-5016.

The point is that the REPS "appointed" holdover Dir Of Real Property is to blame here.  Correct me if I am wrong Bumble but didn't Craig Surprise have to go to anger management counseling over this issue?  I am told he blew up at the County Staff over their refusal to correct these issues with borderline properties.  Ask him if you don't believe me.  It was NICK BARBER who refused to help these people.  Not Surprise, not Macejka.  Even Steve Tomassone tried to persuade Nick and he was rebuffed.

Is there friction because there is a resistance at the local level to not assess parcels on a regular basis and the county insists that this is done?

I agree that I was not in favor of the salary given to Mr. Surprise. Just like I was not in favor of the raise to the town board members.Or should I say the timing of it. I also don't like paying for Rotterdam's brush dump along with paying for the county's in Glenville. I also don't like paying for the RPD and the State Police and a sheriff's dept. I also don't like paying for REMS instead of Mohawk who is clearly more qualified and cheaper for the taxpayers. K?
