I am a CITIZEN .. not a Pleb  (maybe you think of yourself as such -- but that is your business)....  and I don't think there is a problem with the "weight of government" ---- government just has to be made for effective and efficient.

Government is NOT the problem ---- backwards thinkers and people unafraid of progress are the problem.

are you serious? really? I have always advocated for progress...but it seems to me that a couple of generations (this current bunch not far removed) has narrow mindedly, willy-nilly played all
over Rotterdam without sufficient foresight and even if they did have it they were more concerned about the weight being deposited into their pockets.....

so hearing from you about this so called 'progress' is interesting indeed....BTW, you still forgot to wipe your chin

let me know when you and yours are ready to take the bull by the horns and dig in....because we're about to get a 'b**ch slap' via the markets/agencies...greece is a lesson to reason with

let's see if the offspring can shake it off......

they didn't want it....let's see about the contracts and the gumbas first.....

Rotterdam has had a history of poor planning. All one has to do is ride thru the town and the evidence is everywhere. Now....whether sewers are needed or not will ultimately rest at the feet of the taxpayers. They will be the deciding voice sinceit is they who will vote for or against a sewer taxing district.

And if this last year is any indication (REMS/PINE GROVE FD), this won't fly either. If rotterdamians are saying 'no' to an increase in 'safety'......they will clearly vote no for a sewer line that 'they' personally don't need. Tax increases are not very popular in these economic times.....no?

In either case it will be the taxpayers who will decide.

John Mertz (Bumblethru) and Brian McGarry and Chris Tomaselli and Villano  and Joe Surhada -- and the other NNTPers will ALWAYS oppose anything that could improve Rotterdam.  They will lie and deceive to scare the voters --- that is their mode of operating.

Investing in infrastructure such as desperately needed sewers and the addition to a fire house do cost money --  but NOT ACTING COSTS MORE MONEY IN THE LONG RUN.   It is precisely because Rotterdam has not spent money to improve its infrastructure that our town has not developed as it could and should have  (for God's sake we are one of the few communities in the state and country with at least 7 connections to the INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM ---- and are 12 miles from the center of a metropolitan area with over 750,000 people --- and we have NOT developed the way Clifton Park and other communities have developed.

Why ? Because we let backward thinking nayboobs (like those named above) stall and stop any progress in our town.   The time has come to ignore the nayboobs and PUSH FORWARD  ------  that will lead to lower taxes, continued vital services and programs  and a great place to live for everyone.

thing about the new REGIME.....not one of them chose to eliminate their salary....nor did the budget
greeds allow a real look at the jobs to be eliminated.....now,  did  DM make a comment how
embarrassing it was to have salaries eliminated from the Board?.....or to that effect?

Spending is not always the way to improve taxes....look at the budget ....more emphasis on the Police

and Union members....did any of these people volunteer NOT to get a raise???....Comptroller makes more?
Does HB really need $13K ?????  more for retirement?   double dipping????

To look at the bigger picture is not always about infrastructure.....fire bldgs., etc.,

TIME STANDARDS FOR ALL JOBS...THEN YOU WILL SEE THE TRUE PICTURE OF WHAT CAN BE ELIMINATED.....

just a comment from a commoner , trying to survice and understand all this babble.

They  need to reduce spending instead of digging in the pockets of the taxpayers. Like I said....the taxpayers will ultimately decide...........and they ain't too big on tax increases as shown in this last year in rotterdam! Sewer districts ain't gonna survive either.

you are so behind.....this conversation happened a long time ago.....but the gumbas refused to address it because they know the curtain is pulled.....we cant burn a candle at both ends

SPEND DOWN FIRST

then priorities will emerge

If he really paid taxes, he would scan the cancelled checks and attach them to prove it. His name is on no deed, he owns no property in the County of Schenectady. He is a fake. I have paid close to $200,000 in property taxes in this state. I actually have records to prove it. Furthermore, you can find out if you knew my name and you could see that my name is on the deed. I can't be bothered to listen to renters who want to drive my property taxes double so they can take care of political friends and special interests.

You are making an assumption that he actually pays rent...that is also qustionable.  That should be obtainable if the property in which he resides charges rent, then it should also be listed as a legal apartment, right?

Election Day is over and DVR/SG now realizes that Rotterdam has been left in the dust? RSM should be demolished by Metrograft for a open air mall. Did you stop by the Recovery Room on Rt 30? It does 3X the business of the Rotterdam governmental version. Spoke with management at Shop Rite and told them they must open in Rotterdam. They mentioned Curry Rd Shopping Center. I thought of the DEM moron plans for taking it permanently off the tax rolls but said nothing. Let see if for once town DEMS can dump their socialistic plans to help the oppressed taxpayers. But of course John Mertz is the problem not yourselves.

Yeah, they blame Duci, Herbert Hoover, James Madison, Sir William Johnson, King Aethelwulf  Charlemagne, Pope Leo X, John the Baptist, Moses, anyone from history. Never themselves. Pointing the accusing finger of blame when they control everything, everywhere is a cottage industry for these despots.

Like horrible Obama nothing is their fault. So what if they have imploded the City with 37 straight years of DEM morons controlling City Council? Reach back to Mayor Ellis to blame the current fiscal collapse. They threw Mayor Al at Roger Hull even though Sherman was off the campaign in June. No shame in their game. Vince Riggi/Roger Hull proved that you don't need the 3 union controlled minor lines to win. Just a good pair of shoes. As in Stalingrad the myth of DEM invincibility has been destroyed.
