One moment you guys say the dems are socialist liberals against the military.

where was this said? I must have missed it.

AGAIN..............read carefully............
Like I stated earlier...........I'm not against a monument honoring our troops. I have military men and women in my family. I am however interested in other pressing issues facing rotterdam. Issues that this administration campaigned on.

And yes, I am somewhat skeptical about this monument as being the fluff that all socialist liberals use to cover up for their incompetence or corruptness. Is that the case this time? Perhaps not. But I'm skeptical just the same.

It was probably recorded as ALL volunteer work. However, if an unfortunate accident should happen on the 'volunteer' job.............who is responsible???

ROTTERDAM
Officials react to monument’s expenses

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter

Parts of the veterans memorial outside Rotterdam Town Hall appear to have been paid for with taxpayer money, despite outgoing town Supervisor Frank Del Gallo’s past assertions that the project was funded entirely through donations.
Del Gallo has already paid out $10,543 in town money for itemized invoices for the memorial, even though none of them were approved by members of the Town Board. Another sizeable invoice — for $4,330 — came from Bradshaw Construction shortly after November’s election, but board members declined to pay it Monday because they hadn’t authorized it.
“We didn’t authorize the payment for any memorial,” said board member Nicola DiLeva. “We didn’t approve him to pay for that.”
Del Gallo signed off on sizeable invoices from Grandview Concrete and Suhrada Construction and Kenneth Maguire, a stone carver from Florida the supervisor enlisted to create the images on the two massive slabs of limestone. Del Gallo even reimbursed himself for purchases totalling more than $2,000.
Bradshaw Construction is a company owned by James Bradshaw, who ran for town justice as a Republican and on Del Gallo’s Rotterdam First party line in last month’s elections. Both Bradshaw and Del Gallo were handily defeated at the polls.
DiLeva said she and her fellow board members likely would have supported building the monument even if they knew it was going to cost money. But she said the way Del Gallo went about funding the memorial without bids or authorization from the board wasn’t right.
“How many times did he tell us everything was donated?” she asked during the board’s agenda meeting Monday. “How many times did he tell us it would not cost a penny?”
Del Gallo did not show up for the meeting to respond to questions about the monument. He could not be reached Monday for comment for this story.
When construction fi rst began on the monument in July 2010, Del Gallo insisted all of the materials and labor would be donated. A pool builder by trade, he agreed to provide the bulk of construction.
“It’s not going to cost the taxpayers anything,” he told The Gazette in an interview at the time.
Shortly before the monument was unveiled this past May, Del Gallo said it was the product of nearly two dozen volunteers and countless hours of unpaid labor. He indicated that roughly $50,000 was donated to the cause, including his own $13,000 salary for 2011 as supervisor.
Town officials weren’t certain whether Del Gallo’s salary was used for construction costs. Deputy Supervisor Robert Godlewski suggested Del Gallo might be operating under the assumption that his salary was paying for the invoices because he never collected a paycheck this year. “In his mind, he’s donating his salary,” he said during the meeting. “That’s what that means to him.” ........................>>>>.........................>>>>....................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00900&AppName=1

Really sad.  How can someone make such claims and not realize the truth will come out?  What now?  Can the town recoup the expenses by going after DelGallo?
And for the Gazette...just looked at the picture....PHOTOGRAPH????  It's Photoshopped!!!!

Another outrage by the town working together crew. This was sold as a private donations only project. Now the truth comes out-$10,543 in taxpayer funds with no approval by the all DEM moron Town Bored.

Where's the outrage from anyone but ND? Typical copout by DVR. This has nothing to do with veterans and everything to do with taxpayer ripoff by your DEMS. What did you know, what did the DEM committee know and when did you know it?  This news should have been public BEFORE Election Day.

Out of respect for Mr. Del Gallo......either way the Town does not lose.  If the citizens knew what really went on the new REGIME

would not have been elected...ND is the thorn in his side and the rest of the board her "OCCUPIERS"

For 2 years Mr. Del Gallo put up with the disrespect and uncooperative behavior of the TB....and he prevailed.....The taxpayers

should know about the waste in other areas....and it would probably amount to the same thing.

HEARD IN THE DONUT SHOP AND NEVER RESOLVED OR SUPPORTED FOR INVESTIGATION.

1.   Let the dire straight's family donate their fraudulant fundraiser money back to the TOWN

2.   Let DM donate her lack of frugalness back to the Town.

3.   Fraudulant time sheets should be brought to light..

4.  The loss of hours for PT employees at the Ctr....where did the unused budgett money go.

5.  Collect money for Town property destroyed at the CTR..

6.   Product, food, utilites etc., used personally while on the job.

The above are just the events that were blogged here and talked about at the donut shop...and all very wastful and costly...

But, no one supported or reported any of this....when will justice be done????  when the truth comes out....by the media...

It sounds like fdg thought his 'salary' would be used to pay for this.....no?

If that was the case, and to avoid issues such as this, fdg should have taken his salary and wrote out personal checks to pay for services and/or materials.

Perhaps rotterdam's als money 'could' have covered it? OH that's right.....REMS is keeping the $$$$!

They are squabbling over $10K when there is hundreds of thousands of dollars being lost to REMS!!! Ya can't make this stuff up!!

Well, in either case, it's a moot point. This administration is over and the town has a nice veterans  monument.

Nicely stated.....thank you...

but a problem with people who know what actually is going on....yet no one stands up and questions it....

Wait...it's just the beginning  of what will be worse than residents think than this paultry 10K is...

just to put FDG down because of what he stood up for....  FDG  thank you for your dedicated servic...and you prevailed...

It's a shame...I guess when you work for the government at least in Rotterdam....there are no thank yous, and to be able to

bow out gracefully...the Dems are a ruthless bunch of elected officials....

THANK YOU MR. FRANCIS DEL GALLO       YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE        !!!!!!!!!

The FACT is that Mr. DelGallo was NOT a Democrat ... He chose to be a "lone ranger" and NOT work with the team.  Mr. DelGallo (like his co-dictator - Bob Godlewski) was only interested in what he wanted and what served his agenda.
Mr. DelGallo set out to do this project and didn't bother to get much community input on it.  But that is typical of his management style --- He is going to do what he wants to do - the hell with everyone else --- and then he sends a bill for his "donated services".  (BTW -- this sounds ironically like Mr. DelGallo's contribution to the 2009 campaign ---- all talk, no action and leave the bill for someone else to pay.)
The Democratic Committee was NOT involved in the monument -- so your questions are directed at the wrong people.

You should be grilling Mr. DelGallo and Mr. Bradshaw and anyone else who submitted invoices on what was supposed to be project paid for entirely with DONATIONS.

They are making an issue out of $10K????????????
Wait until the NEW Revitalize/Reunite Rotterdam team gets in!! $10K will be a drop in the bucket. And again....this $10K is well covered by fdg's salary that he didn't take. So it was monies already alotted for.

A lot of hoopala for nothing.
