I could only guess since I missed meetings and I wasn't at the town board meeting, but I would say that the raise to $15,000 is out, coming down to a lower raise, but you will probably see raises in other positions which will most likely pay more than the balance between the $15,000 and the new proposal.

They probably should get a samll raise as long as they are upfront on it. Maybe 12-13 grand or so since they do spend a lot of time doing what they do and I tell you one thing for 100 PERCENT SURE- I WOULD NEVER EVER DO WHAT THEY DO FOR A MEASLY TEN GRAND PER YEARLY consideringt the abuse they get each day, democrat or republican and especially what the families go through on elections with all the mud (which comes a wee bit heavier from the democratic side. maybe more then 'wee bit' actually people)

The only objection for denying them a raise was the way it was done. As long as the officials do it the right way they will get the raise.

The raise should be included in a public meeting while discussing the budget. NOT a few days after the election and trying to slip it in! That is NOT how it is or should be done.

If I understood Mr. Silva's question/statement correctly at the Town Board meeting, the committee has submitted recommendations that will be discussed in the context of the budget discussion at the next agenda meeting.

I appreciate any employee, public or private wanting an increase in their salary. And I also believe that it should have always been addressed at the public meetings regarding the budget.

My comment was more to the point that the committee has made recommendations.  I certainly hope that these recommendations will be presented publicly at a meeting by the committee, and not simply vetted behind closed doors.  Much like the CAB, I'd like to see a detailed presentation that includes what facts were considered to reach the conclusions and how much deliberation to the procedure there was to arrive at the conclusions.

Apparently, the committee reached some decisions.  It also appears that the Supervisor at least, is inclined to put them aside (except for a stipend - that's code for raise) as the town faces a likely tax increase.  I wonder how that will fly with those that wanted raises (Mertz, Signore) and those that eventually wanted raises (Della Villa, Silva) since Tommasone was opposed anyway.  From the article the other day, it sounded like the committee was inclined to give quite a number of raises to various town entities.  I'll have to get my hands on the actual report.

Signore got his raise because he never disagrees with the Reps agenda and just rubber stamps what ever they tell him to.
