Do you suppose teachers pay/pensions have anything to do with rising tuition? What % of the college budget goes to this. The NYS lottery likes to boast how much the gambling revenue helps education(pay/pensions). What % goes for pay/pensions? One would think if teachers/Adm. were that devoted to the educational cause they would freeze pay/tuitions for the benefit of the students.
Most colleges hire adjunct faculty, which is basically part-time staff, so that they don't have to pay benefits. The days of full-time professors, associate professors, etc. is pretty much over. However, college presidents and college coaches seem to be able to get fairly high 6 figure annual salaries. Go figure. I believe that the NYS Lottery only goes to fund Pre K-12 Public education in NYS and not college and university education. |
