And this happened while that violence protest was taking place.

Cheer cheer rah rah, the mayor and his team are doing a wonderful job in the city, the city is improving

A lot has to do with how kids a raised today and such, but because of that, the homeowners money must be used to for services to them instead of for tax exemptions for the mayor's rich political cronies.  Those millionaires downtown don't need one penny of taxpayer money, they'll be able to pay their bills, but the homeowners often cannot.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

so do  you honestly think that if downtown paid taxes (which they should), causing homeowners to pay less taxes (which they should)....there would be no crime???
do you honestly think that if the reps were in 'charge', things would be different?

if you believe any of the above, I have a bridge to no-where to sell ya.

Comparing the numbers: Violence in the Tri-Cities is on the rise

ALBANY - The City of Albany has seen three shootings in the past three days.

It's part of what has been a violent month of August here in the Capital Region.

How does the violence compare to past years?

NewsChannel 13 takes a look at the numbers.

Since August 1 there have been eight shootings in Albany, one in Schenectady and one in Troy.

That follows two July shootings in Schenectady and one in Albany.

But one portion of Albany has seen a heavy share of the violence.

From august 5 through August 22, an area near First Street, Lexington Avenue and Henry Johnson Boulevard has seen four shootings.

Compared to last year, shootings are up in Albany and Schenectady, but down in Troy.

According to a report from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, Albany saw two shootings in July and August of 2014.

This year? That number is nine. That’s more than four times last year's number.

Schenectady had zero shootings where someone was hit by gunfire in July and August last year.

This year, they've had three shootings, hitting eight people.

Two of those shootings were deadly.

Troy had four shootings last year in the midsummer months. This year they've had one, though it was a double shooting with one fatality.

And these statistics aren't counting other shootings around the area, like the shooting outside Colonie Center Mall.

NewsChannel 13 spoke with Albany Police about the rise in shootings.

They say they are taking whatever means necessary to curb the violence. But also say it's a chance for the community to come together.

They are encouraging anyone with information about these shootings to contact police so they can get violent people off the streets.
