Schenectady building inspectors scouring the city

If you live in Schenectady, don’t be surprised if a firefighter, police officer or code enforcement officer knocks on your door. A program to make sure buildings in the city are safe is in full swing.
The three departments are teaming up to go neighborhood to neighborhood and attacking eyesores and dangerous buildings.
There are 22,000 structures to check out. The point is to find what may seem like small problems now, which could turn into bigger issues later. They’re looking to make sure roofs are secure and they want to make sure they can clearly see your house number from the road, in case of an emergency.
They don’t want to find holes in walls, missing siding or breaks in foundations. If they do, they want if fixed ASAP.
While we were following crews around doing this today, we saw them run into a big problem with a home, which could have been a huge hazard in this neighborhood.
The mayor, fire and police chief all tell us they’re not out to get property owners with this program . They don’t want to be seen as enemies with this program, they want to work with people to improve their homes and neighborhoods and they welcome a call from anyone who has questions about how to do that.

The nayboobs, who only posted a part of the Gazette article, only seek to spread negativity, lies and half-truths.  If they had posted the ENTIRE article, it was clearly stated that a) the city wants to work with property owners to  fix these safety issues AND b) that after such sweeps in the 80% of the safety issues were resolved quickly and without the need to impose fines.

Here is a non-profit program that works with the disabled and the elderly to help them stay in their homes.  They will do house repairs and lawn work.

It's great that the city will point out what needs to be fixed, but then the homeowners are stuck paying for the repairs while also paying some the Highest property tax rates in the state....

Maybe the city should ask some of the freeloading businesses downtown to pay their fair share......don't hold your breath though...

Yeah..."Hi!  I'm the friendly code enforcement and police officer that would never buy property in this city, but I'll tell you how to spend your money on your devaluing property, and I'll collect my exorbent salary funded by the crippling property tax levied on you dilapidated house, so I can pay for my nice house in the suburbs."

These people have no conscience.

Yep - YOU (and your nayboob buddies) never tell the truth.

As a taxpayer, I am very happy to see municipalities like Schenectady doing code enforcement sweeps and working hard to improve the community.

You do know that by altering the words that I actually posted you just proved - what I have been saying all along - that you and your nayboob buddies are guilty of lying and manipulating facts.  You'll stop at nothing to spread your vile venom in your attempts to tear down our wonderful community.
