You're essentially right. In reality my healthcare isn't free. I had to give up 3 years of my life to qualify for it. And other folks, those hard working taxpayin' folk, do pay for my healthcare. Still giving up 3 years early in my life seems a small price to pay for what I have now. Especially when I see and hear about the nightmare affordable health care is for others.  That being said I hope that you are healthy, working and paying your taxes and contributing to my healthcare also.

sure,,,,killing other humans on the planet IS a small price to pay....and getting maimed is another SMALL price to pay

however, I'm not debating whether veteran healthcare/insurance/medicalcare is free or not....it's just part of that package of
goods....no matter how substandard....you see, that's what will happen with the ACA....the weakest link will make it cost the
most....how to manage that?

Uh, where did I state that I killed other humans? Or are we just talking generalities and hypotheticals here? All I know is I joined the Army, served three years, and for giving up 3 years of my life I have free healthcare until I die. And when I do croak, I also get a free burial to boot. Can't beat that deal with a stick.

it was in the general terms of military employment, not specific to you

what would we do if all those military folks decided to change their jobs and quit the military....where would they work?
walmart? I'm just curious how the ACA can claim that everyone can get a job anywhere and still have health INSURANCE aka
access to MEDICAL care, when the military has been doing this for years, and not doing it well, and the public accepts it
as 'GREAT OPTION'?

You weren't offered free medical care unconditionally.  You had to become property of the US government and do tricks for them.  In return, they promised that those who would not offer themselves as property, would be paying for your medical care.

So it was offered to me, I just didn't want the government to own me for 2 years and sacrifice my life as they see fit, in return for an entitlement.

Hey it was your choice, and I respect that.

Hell, I had no idea when I joined that this free health care even existed. Nor did I really give a sh*t. It was only after I tried to use that other gubmint healthcare option (medicare) that I found out about this "freeloading" healthcare. As I stated before I really do feel bad for all the folks that have to deal with the agonizing healthcare options out there. I really do, and I hope a better solution is found.

Oh, and don't think for one minute that I'm not appreciative of your hard work and diligent taxpaying, because I am and really can't thank you enough. But  you really need to get back to your desk and continue to be productive and "feed the beast", because I have to renew a prescription and just want to make sure there's money in the "kitty".

Enjoy your socialist medicine.   Wait til you can't get some treatment you really need.  I prefer freedom, the freedom to choose what doctor I go to, what hospital I go to, etc.   Intelligent people do NOT want the government making their decisions for them.   And we ALL know from the news this past year the MASSIVE problems in the VA system

Ok, which is it? One of you clowns posts it is socialism the other clown posts it's not?

And why aren't you working, being productive and contributing to my free "socialist/not socialist" healthcare? Get your sorry a** off of here and get back to work! You have to pay for your healthcare and mine. You've got no time to be here pontificating about things you haven't got a clue about.

Our veterans laid their lives on the line to protect our nation, our way of life and our freedoms, the least that we can do is provide them the best medical care possible.

yes, they should get to choose their own doctors and not have medical care rationed.

By the way, what years did you serve your country?   What branch of service?

We do work AND we pay taxes AND we pay the largest chunk of our health insurance premiums and have deductibles and co-pays
