In Schenectady, Prime Cos. will move forward with building more than 100 apartments and retail space at the corner of State Street and Erie Boulevard on the site of the former Robinson's Furniture store.

"We're definitely proceeding forward thanks to the governor and the Metroplex Development Authority," said Dean DeVito, vice president at Prime Cos.

The developer will receive $100,000 less than it had requested, but DeVito said he will pursue other funding sources.

ahhhh! More corporate welfare for yet again another developer in Schenectady! More luxury apartments 100! It is amazing that the city has so much foreclosed houses and McCarthy doesn't know what to do with them and these idiots are building more apartments? Are the politicans on drugs???

Prime Co will also look for other funding. I am sure this will come from Metroplex, city and county in form of grants and property tax exemptions. # WAKE UP SCHENECTADY VOTERS BIG DEVELOPERS ARE IN BED WITH THE POLITICIANS (MAYOR MCCARTHY & GOVERNOR CUOMO) THEY DON'T GIVE A $HIT ABOUT YOU. THEY ONLY THROW A BONE AT YOU EVERY NOW AND THEN TO KEEP GETTING ELECTED IN TO OFFICE.

Nothing like more taxpayer handouts for sure.   Doesn't Cuomo realize that no one is moving into Schenectady?  Record high numbers of EXISTING VACANT houses and residential apartments.

Roads in the neighborhoods where taxpayers live need to be fixed.
Sewers and watermains need to be fixed.
City streets need to be plowed better
Homeowners in the city are desperately in need of tax relief
Bridges in the state need to be fixed, put people to work fixing roads, cleaning the road sides
The snowstorm in Buffalo will be costly to state taxpayers
Money could be spent on a reassessment of the city of Schenectady
Working people in Schenectady, typical household income in Schenectady is under $40,000, there was just a report on TV a week or so ago that it typically costs $12,000 a year for child care.
That Oak St bridge needs to be fixed

So many better things the state could do with that money that would benefit the taxpayer instead of the rich political cronies of the corrupt leaders.

Cuomo said the capital region businesses have been ignored.

He must live in a van down by the river.

Another project that makes no sense at all, in a market overflowing with houses people don't want, we are going to give a millionaire developer a huge amount of money to build places to live that no one needs and no one wants. Terrible government. I'm so glad I didn't vote for Cuomo, at least I can sleep at night.

This is GREAT NEWS for a GREAT PROJECT in a GREAT CITY.  Ray Gillen, Mayor McCarthy and Governor Cuomo realize that the only way to fully revive an old urban center is to bring a MIX of development retail, office, RESIDENTIAL, etc.  Residential is THE key because as you bring a critical mass of people from all income levels back into the urban core .. it creates a snowball effect .. more people leads to more retail and service businesses.

Oh -- Don't forget, that once that second track is complete between Albany and Schenectady and the high speed rail service from NYC begins, ALL of Schenectady including DOWNTOWN Schenectady will be prime real estate.

Yup, I see it now, people are gonna come to the Schenectady train station, and not head for Clifton Park, Glenville or Saratoga, choosing instead to stay where you have 1 in 16 chance of being a crime victim. Each year.

They'll just come piling in so fast they will squeeze out all the poverty, flood the local economy with millions, bury us with new tax revenue and we can all retire with the money we make from the massive increase in value of our homes.

Prime real estate.

Must be nice to not believe in reality.

If it's such a great city, why do you REFUSE to put  your pinky toe IN the city?   Why do you "work" OUTSIDE of the city -- don't forget I provided the EVIDENCE.

Care to tell us WHY you REFUSE to live IN the city?????????:

Of course anyone who does NOT have to pay the taxes, a 50+ year old man who is NOT self sufficient and independent, does not have a worry in the world, being supported by two rich mommies, sure, a person like that is going to cheer cheer cheer for the working people to be paying for all kinds of lavish unnecessary spending of the taxpayers money, even if it means they lose their homes.   Just as long as his political party gets the kickbacks from the millionaires and billionaires in return for STEALING from the working taxpayers to give to the rich

Does anyone find it EXTREMELY odd that a person who claims that Schenectady will be prime real estate would REFUSE to buy IN Schenectady?   If it will be prime real estate, then any intelligent person would buy now and get a handsome return on the investment.

But of  course, the Dem Voice Full of POOP and LIES, knows FULL WELL that the rest of us who actually are intelligent speak the TRUTH that the city is failing, proven by the MASSIVE PLUMMETING of the city's tax base combined with MASSIVE INCREASES in taxes combined with big reductions in ESSENTIAL city services and the EVIDENCE of these TRUTHS has been provided

Notice, he NEVER NEVER NEVER posts on here to refute the EVIDENCE we provide

The FACT is that many other urban centers around the country have revitalized their urban cores by bringing a mix of retail/commercial AND residential into their downtowns/urban cores.  It has been a successful formula for urban renewal for a few decades now.

Though it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the topic at hand, it is an ABSOLUTE FACT that I do work INSIDE the city limits. My office is located INSIDE the city limits.  The territory of the entity that I work for includes most of the city's Northside neighborhood.  Those are ABSOLUTE and IRREFUTABLE FACTS.

Furthermore, I challenge the whiney, dirty diaper nayboob to prove that he/she actually lives IN the city or anyplace except under a slimey rock.  He/she should even prove that he/she is not the chicken sh*t piece of scum that he/she comes across as by actually identifying him/herself publicly.  For all we know, he/she is locked up in the psych ward of one of our state prisons.
