Of course, another taxpayer funded project

So, are the properties of the millionaire political crony Marcella family among these foreclosures?   Taxes are still NOT paid.

So, are the properties of the Metroplex favored rich architect Gilmore, and his wife Mary Dallesandro (mr McCarthy's crony on the board of assessment who REFUSES to grant assessment reductions even when grievants' provide documentation of 100 comparable houses selling 50% below assessed value), the woman who brags that so many houses are "under contract" in McTHIEF's HOMES program but McTHIEF and Mary NEVER provide one teeny weeny shred of evidence that supports those statements, as the actual closings a month are pitiful 15 or 20 houses (she brags like "we have 70 houses under contract this month).   Is their Stockade house one of these 215 that are being foreclosed?

How about the ex DEM councilman Joe Allen, he has not paid his taxes, political crony, is HIS house among the foreclosures?

And how about King Morris' employee at the taxpayer funded TV station -- the one who has an interest free "mortgage" from the taxpayers, no repayment schedule on the mortgage, and has NOT paid a penny of taxes since he bought a house for $2,500 from the city.  Is that house on the foreclosure list?

Where is he foreclosure list.   It used to be published in the LEGAL NOTICES in all the newspapers.   Why is the mayor and his dem cronies keeping the list such a secret?

a friend of mine lives on Dean St. She can't sit in her back yard because the house behind her on Plaza was abandoned about 2 years ago.
The bank mows the front lawn but the backyard has a pool that is now a swamp and the weeds are as tall as the above ground pool.
the mosquitoes and smell are repugnant.
She contacted the bank and the bank said they were only responsible for the front of the house.
Her son went to look at the home for possible purchase but the folks left it in very very bad shape......disgusting. It would cost him a
fortune to fix it and then to have have to pay taxes which were outrageous.
no wonder the young are leaving.

Hello senders. Your friend's experience isn't unique, unfortunately, it is repeated all over the neighborhood, it this is supposed to be the GOOD part of Schenectady. I know of empty houses, empty for much longer, that individuals such as your friend's son have made offers to buy, but found out when the banks are involved, they will not let them go at a reasonable price. Reasonable being low enough for the buyer to be able to afford to put in all the work. It would appear that the banks are making more money hanging on to these properties than letting them be put back to use. This is something that our lawmakers should be correcting, as it is very damaging to our cities, but no, either they are asleep, or actively colluding with the banks to maintain the status quo. In Schenectady, McCheese is not going to do a thing for the long-term good of the city, if it involves fair and equal taxation. He will keep the screws on the remaining property tax owners no matter what. Some of these properties will end up being demolished at taxpayer expense, and they will call it a good thing because "neighbors can buy adjacent vacant property and make their property worth more". Would your friend want to be taken advantage of in this way? An "opportunity" to buy an overpriced lot from the city, to justify the obscene taxes she's now paying? Actually, in reality, cities that go around knocking 'holes' in the streetscape have devalued property, but in Schenectady, the bizarro city, they have a "study" that tells us we have "too many houses" which need to be "thinned out".
This "program" referred to above, with the secret list of foreclosures, is corrupt from the git-go, because McCheese is trying to pick and choose who he will reward with taxpayer dollars, for one. Two, there are plenty of houses for sale on the open market right now. Young people who are priced out of the market for these houses are being denied the opportunity to purchase a cheap, foreclosed house in need of repairs, which is the route numerous people I know took to starting homeowning, they bought a true fixer-upper and built "sweat equity". Why would the city put taxpayer money into repairs on these houses instead of letting people get a foot in the door and do it themselves? To keep up the fiction that houses are "worth" the horrible, confiscatory taxes charged on them. I know that people often get in over their heads buying 'cheap' houses at at auction and not understanding what it takes to fix them up, versus what they will be worth when repaired, but some of these houses are in neighborhoods people do still want to buy in, if the price is right. It doesn't make sense for the city to be putting money into such houses, except that McCheese wants to continue the fiction that these houses are "worth" what he says they are, rather than what the market says they are. Young people willing to take a chance on Schenectady are being denied the chance to buy a truly "affordable" house, which is discriminatory against lower-income working people, imo, also, I've noticed that today there are a number of savvy, educated young people who know a lot about mid-century design, and they would rather restore some of these houses to their former beauty than have God-knows-who come in for the city and do some cheesy remodel on them. One more thing, letting houses rot to the ground and then knocking them down is a good way to murder a city, as well as corrupt.
Whew. Long winded, but the more people know what's going on (the papers paint a different picture) the chances are better we could pull the city out of this before it is too late.

Code enforcement should be called.

Is the pool covered?   Is the pool fenced in?  A ladder with it?    If the pool is uncovered it must have an alarm on it, state law.  And all the safety issues if someone got into the yard and hurt.

While this thread was supposed to be on city tax foreclosures, there are mortgage foreclosures too of course.  And why are there mortgage foreclosures?   Because the mortgage payment increases because the escrow increases because the taxes go up so high.

Code enforcement won't go after city owned properties.

Mortgage foreclosures are because when they stop paying taxes, they stop paying the mortgage and collect rent for as long as possible.

True on the code enforcement.   The current and previous DEM mayor, the city admin and DEM council members do NOT want to provide services to the taxpayers in the neighborhoods.   The dems only want to hike the taxes on homeowners to dole out those tax exemption to their rich political cronies.

Actually, when you stop paying the mortgage, if taxes are escrowed, the bank still pays the taxes until the bank foreclosure actually is completed and the homeowner is basically evicted (if they have not left the house already)

Homeowners insurance doesn't make the mortgage payment go up much, even with annual increases in premiums.   And as most banks and mortgage companies require PMI, the annual reduction in PMI may offset the increase in homeowners' insurance.

But in the city of Schenectady, thanks to the dems, the mortgage payments are never ending increasing because of the every increasing HUGE tax increases --- And those who are NOT taxpayers come on these boards praising the wild uncontrolled spending by the dems and then have the nerve to claim that the dems have lowered taxes to lower than they were in the 1970's.

But where is the list of foreclosures this year.   Since a number of the closest political cronies of the dem leaders in the city, count, and plex haven't paid taxes in three years, the mayor REFUSES to publish the list.

Just like the dems are so secretive and REFUSE to explain in simple language that they are paying the taxes of downtown, so too are they being secretive about their cronies who are TAX DEADBEATS

Very true

But regardless, the I believe that since these are legal issues, a notice is mandated to put the list of foreclosures in the newspaper, if nothing else then in the Legal Notices.

But McC and his buddy dems are so embarrassed by their cronies becoming TAX DEADBEATS

McCarthy has no plan and no vision to solve the real estate crisis in the city of schenectady which him and his cronies created.  Mcarthy chased working class people out of the city and brought in welfare hogs in to the city and those are the ones voting for him. Got news for you McCarthy the welfare hogs on D.S.S and Section 8 has no money to fix the $hit houses and they will never pay property taxes and high fees. You were better off with the absentee owners owning these properties. This plan of yours will fail miserably just like your H.O.M.E.S program matter of fact whatever little is left of it. #VOTE REPUBLICAN/ ALLIANCE FOR MAYOR

I agree with everything except....it was GENEROUS ELECTRIC'S exit that caused the 'working class' to move away! There are no jobs to speak of anymore in Schenectady, NY!!
With the working class out of the way....the welfare hogs are a sure vote getter for the present powers that be.

I won't vote UNTIL I hear EXACTLY what the rep/alliance party's solid plan is to turn this city around and in EXACTLY what time frame. right now i hear crickets. until then......it's a not voting from me.
