The pathetically childish, jealous rants from the perpetual negativity society don't diminish the reality that Schenectady is looking and growing stronger everyday.

DV, please state how a modern, Vegas style, digital sign meets the definition of historic.   When Proctors was built, digital was not even thought of so how can digital be considered historic and appropriate on a historic building?   Please explain that.

And while your at it, please explain your statement that county taxes are lower now than in the 1970's.

One of nice things about Schenectady's RENAISSANCE is how bright and vibrant State Downtown looks.  That positive energy is brightening the whole  City-County.

And tell us DV, how do the neighborhoods look -- you know, those areas of the city where the taxpayers actually live.

And how vibrant is the tax base?

And tell us DV, how vibrant are the property values in the city?

And tell us DV, how vibrant are the home sales in the city?

And tell us DV, how vibrant is the demand by people to buy a home IN the city AND live in it?

And tell us DV, how vibrant are the home sale prices in the city?

And tell us DV, how vibrant are the essential services IN THE NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE THE TAPAYERS LIVE -- how vibrant are the services like street paving in the neighborhoods (outside of downtown), police protection, snow plowing, sewer services, drain cleaning, trash collection, maintenance of the tax foreclosed houses, etc.

Tell us DV, how vibrant is the return TO THE TAXPAYERS on their FORCED investment (under threat of losing their homes) to pay for the political crony millionaires?

Tell us DV, how vibrant are the political cronies in paying their tax bills?

Of course, since DV is FULL OF SH*T and spews NOTHING BUT LIES, he will NOT answer these question.   Since NOTHING is vibrant for the taxpayers in the neighborhoods, DV will NOT respond.   He is too embarrassed to admit he is wrong.

And he doesn't have to tell too many lies for his nose to be longer than his weeny

The pathetically childish, jealous rants from the perpetual negativity society .

I AGREE about the rants! Except for the 'childish', 'jealous' bit....that is just plain silly!

personally we have never gone to proctors and don't plan to...and tell everyone we meet why we don't and why they shouldn't. we NEVER go downtown Schenectady.....NEVER!!

HOWEVER....if ya don't like it....don't go to proctors and encourage as many as you can to not go either....AND....of course...cut off their money flow by NOT paying taxes....and start buying out of the county! Get down there when they are having a show, with 'anti-proctors' signs!! rent a billboard that is anti-proctors that helps equate to high taxation!!

but ya need brains and balls to do that!

ya got the power folks.....ya always did!!!

ROFLMAO ! ! ! !

City looking and growing stronger every day??????     This is what you call "looking and growing stronger????    Please explain.

So, DV, if the city is looking and growing stronger every day, why do you REFUSE to live IN the city?????

Only took one comment of his to make his nose longer than you know what.   And heard that a set of noseplugs are needed because the nose is browner than the back end

The comments were childish and jealous -- who cares if someone wore jeans?

Finally, Proctor's is a wonderful theater and has some good shows.  Downtown is becoming a great place again.   My family and I will continue to go down there and enjoy it.

Not me.....don't like the way they spend my tax money. proctors is just ONE of the reasons why taxes are so high in the city. I won't support it.

Actually I do think the new marquis looks great.

However it does disgust me to see them all celebrate it and saying things implying the city is doing fantastic when it clearly is not.

Reminds me of the Iraqi PR guy stating everything is fine and there are no American troops within a thousand miles or whatever lies he was making.

Just look at the pictures MC posted...  Bunch of morons standing there all self-congratulating each other.

Amazing.

Proctors is an OK theater, but much too expensive, given the tens of millions in handouts from the taxpayers and being tax exempt.

Downtown is becoming a great place again?   What is downtown doing to the city's tax base?    Oh, you will NOT answer that, will you because as downtown is being done at taxpayer expense, it is RUINING the rest of the city.   But DV will NOT address that FACT.

You and your family will do downtown?   What family?   Your wife?   What wife.   Your children?    What children?

Downtown is all made up of fattening food places.   The candy at Proctors.  The popcorn, candy, unhealthy frozen pizza's at Bow Tie.   The fattening pastries at the government bakery.   And all the restaurants.   Your figure indicates you probably eat downtown every day

You are entitled to your opinion. But I guess you must stay home because almost everything built in this country got some kind of government enticement to be built.

Oh-- wait -- you got a mortgage deduction to purchase your house -- that is a government enticement that cost tax dollars --- so you can't even stay in your house if you wish to remain consistent with your line of thinking.

I haven't been to Proctor's since the late sixties, but I was there quite a few times.

It was an awesome place.  Tons of detail and lots of money went into that place.

I somewhat don't mind that they helped them along to preserve the place, but like the churches, who also get to rake in money and pay no taxes, the place has been taken over by corporate engineers who have manipulated and operated in a manner that profits themselves greatly along the way.

I do disagree strongly that it should be treated as an equal to a church or school, and get tax exempt status as part of arts and education.

The restoration and operation should have funded mostly through donations from those who want to see it preserved.

Voluntarily, not through taxation.

Restoring once, I could even understand helping with that.

But perpetual funding for operation and expansion into other properties downtown, even into a power system, is far outside the scope of a helping hand.

It is an absolute total sponsorship of the operation and provides jobs and contracts for political favor, friends and families.

All other theaters pay property and income taxes.

It isn't like Proctor's is an actual school that also has pay to view shows.
