In Schenectady, it's the ones who do pay our bills who often have trouble coming up with the cash for the unforeseen expenses such as parking tickets.

Far from "perfect" - but I AM a responsible ADULT that pays his bills, recognizes his responsibility and values his credit rating.  I don't ever worry about not paying a traffic ticket, if I was wrong, so be it - I'll pay the penalty.

I *CHOOSE* not to have health insurance.  IF I have to go to the Doctor, I'll pay the bill, out of my pocket.  Fortunately for the last 15 or so years, my out of pocket expenses are FAR less than the cost of healthcare today, and I can see whatever doctor I CHOOSE to see, and chances are, I'll get seen before anyone WITH insurance.  It's my responsibility - and MY CHOICE.

I *CHOOSE* to drive, the responsibilities that go with that are MINE.  If I'm not wearing a seatbelt (rare) - I'll pay the fine. (Yes, I'm guilty of that twice). If I'm parked someplace I'm not supposed to be - I'll pay the fine.

Perfect? No.

Bully? Hardly.

Responsible adult - yes, absolutely (and a credit score in the low 800's to prove it).

We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.   Funny how that works.

Patches made a valid point that some people have to pay up, while others don't even get ticketed for similar/worse infractions, I think. Marie Antoinette can just stand up and say, "but I won't have anyplace to park my car!" and presto! No plowed streets for anybody. People who can't afford cars won't have the sidewalks or even the streets to walk safely in.
We all know about the city employees who were hogging the meters downtown on Jay Street because they were too lazy to walk to their free parking a block away. Are they going to get notices to pay up for overstaying the meters all day, every day? Of course not! Somehow, it is legal for some to flout all our parking/snow removal rules.
This whole meter issue came about because Proctor's is losing money horribly, IMO. How about stopping any more money going to that NFP until it gets its books in order, THEN get our parking regulation in order, AND our maintenance of city property, including sidewalks, and then start worrying about really old unpaid tickets?

and THIS belief is what makes our cast system 'acceptable' with it's virtual values placed on humans......

this isn't an attack on you personally just pointing out the fallacy of our indoctrination....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
