They were taxed up to 90% yet they still gave to charity, they still spent their fortunes, they continued to grow their portfolio and continued to amass $$$. Now the ultra wealthy spend little or nothing to compensate the country for the infrastructure that made them rich. The middle class as a group pay a higher actual percentage of their income on taxes. In other words, the middle class are paying the bills of the ultra wealthy, as the super rich hide their income offshore.

Eliminate the income tax and go to a straight VAT with exclusions for heat, electric, rent, etc...Drastically increase customs taxes to discourage people from getting around the VAT.. The more you spend, the more VAT you pay...
Quite a few of those "ultra rich" are Dems... obviously, they think the rich should pay more... why are they waiting for the gov't to mandate it? NOTHING is preventing them from cutting a check and sending it directly to the US Treasury. Buffett is bitching about the rich not paying their fair share all the time... how many checks has he sent? After all, he benefited from our Infrastructure as well...you would think he'd do "the right thing" and pay up...

Why? Because it's the right thing to do! If its the right thing to do, you shouldn't wait for "others" to pay extra. You should pay what you think is right.....if its above and beyond what the government requires you to pay, so be it! Think of it as a BIG tip to the gov't for providing such a wonderful infrastructure that helped them get rich.
Bottom line.. Buffett and the other Dem hypocrites only pay what the gov't MAKES them pay...IMHO, they are actually worse than the others because of the self-righteous bullshit they try to spread around....

to the letter doesn't make it OK...just because it's OK and legislated and the regulation doesn't make it right....sure buffet is some kind of philanthropist but so are a bunch of middle class folks that have fund raisers for their neighbors...

I say get rid of income tax....tax should be on what you buy......if the rich are buying more tvs/cars/homes etc than the poor then there is the tax.....
The government doesn't get to stamp a value on me because they feel like it.....I'm not rich but they don't get to say I'm poor or that I've gotten enough of my fair share......
I get to decide when I have enough/too much or not enough......
the system just shouldn't be that complicated...it has NOTHING to do with rich/poor and everything to do with access....

And 2% asked where the addition tax money would go and concluded it doesn't matter. They realized it pays for more 6 figure salaries for government workers, pays for overinflated government employee pensions, and pays the interest on the debt issued by central bankers. The 99% won't see a dime of difference in their lifestyles. But the question makes for good campaign fodder.
