Start consolidating over large areas and you will end up with kids from MP.

I'm normally for consolidation but in this case due to the size of the town geographically it would make some kids trips to school extremely long. It's just not that practical in this case.

my dad told me in a time long long ago in a place oh so dear

he used to walk up hill both ways  - and it is up hill both ways
in the cold, wind, snow, rain, tornado, and sun
from greenpoint ave  to draper school
and then hand weed the family garden

and his generation learned to control of the atom and went to the moon

buck up campers - this will be oh so sad

it is not a hotel  - they don't need amenities - pools, video conference, lit football/baseball fields, tracks

they need to teach k-8 students to
read - understand
write - spell
math - +-*/
reason
and
respect of others

an ipad, laptop, projector, 80" monitor, cell phone, calculator - all the tech sh!t in the world or $$$$$$$$  wont fix this issue

everyone is looking for the golden ticket or short cut to avoid acquiring basic skills

students should have to earn their amenities by showing basic knowledge and skills at the end of 8th grade

I was addressing the barbaric claim of another poster. Modern amenities do not make teachers better educators but they are tools that assist and supplement and may make school more interesting. The sports and entertainment amenities are in place to give the kids something to do. Rotterdam (not a democratic or a republican problem) isn't exactly the mecca of things for teenagers to do. Even back in my time. I'm all for doing anything which gives more quality of life to kids on campus.

Things that I was taught at Mohonasen allowed me to not have to take any prep classes and breeze through my required courses at college. 20 years after graduating high school!!!! I still am in contact with parents who have kids going to Mohonasen. The core curriculum isn't something that you need to concern yourself with.

when you have kids that go to a community college and find out they are recommended to take pre-requisite courses(of which
they can say no to) to help them keep up because they didn't ace the entrance test, then something smells somewhere,

is it the testing
extortion
poor preparation
square pegs vs round pegs
social engineering

it certainly can't be the amenities at the public school....

remember planet of the apes when they offered the apes the banana and Zera built the stairs to reach the banana, just like the
scientists wanted her to do. they wondered why she didn't eat the banana after building and climbing the stairs.
Her answer, "I loathe bananas."

There is a certain percentage of kids from every prep school, even the so-called elite that republicans make big deals about how much they spend on tuition, that fail entrance exams. Try another approach senders. Mohonasen doesn't fudge the numbers. Mohonasen expects much from their students. I would go as far and say the standards of some of the courses I took at Mohonasen were higher than those I took at University. Sounds like you have a personal issue. Did one of our sports teams embarrass your high school? Did our "Answers Please" team (something that Mohonasen students excelled at) embarrass yours?

Nice deflect job senders.  Let's make a deal. Starting with this post. I'll no longer respond to you and you will no longer respond to me. That means if I post something, including this post, you shut your piehole.

Guess you are not in Omaha if you know so much about the current finances and such of Mohon

I never heard of any real problems with Mohonasen and the way they teach, the teachers there were great and would take the time to help out in any way shape or form. I have some relatives who moved to the area just to get their kid in there and away from Schenectady schools.

Mohonasen isn't bad, it could use some improvement, as could all schools, like senders says, just not the 'improvement' being pushed by government lately. Anyway, "Omaha" went to MP, so senders shouldn't bother responding to his absurd statements.
People who take their kids out of Schenectady schools aren't getting something better as far as schooling, they are leaving behind some bad things that interfere with schooling. Such as, there are kids from low-income families attending Mohon, but their parents don't drive them up to the school to get in fights.

First.......any school is better than the city school system!!

Second.....all public schools are nothing more than government institutions that are used to create 'like minded', 'good solder' adults.
They are expected to 'all be the same'....economically, socially and academically. Only the chosen 1% do NOT receive the same education!! And those 1% are the multi-million dollar corporate owners and your high government officials. They are groomed from birth! Every country does it.....so does this one.

It depends on what you mean by "better", bt. There are still kids graduating from Schenectady from academic programs that would not be available to them at some of the "better" schools people move their kids to. Honest. I don't blame people for not wanting violence, and high costs without overall high results, but if you took the student body from MP, all together, and put them all in a school in the Mohonasen district, do you really believe they would improve? We still have immigrant kids doing pretty well in the very same "bad" schools.

True....but remember.....these kids are only getting what the government dictates wants them to get out of it! The government is already creating the next generation via the government school system. And only the 'select few' will go to schools that teach entirely different than those for the rest of society. There are select schools and select teachers and a select curriculum that are 'king/queen' makers.....aka bankers, corporate ceo's, government officials....etc.

there is no level playing field....it's all created by design.
