Quoted from Hack
Cicero - You totally sailed by my first point, which is that I don't think this is the first time the town had a NON-veteran as the grand marshal.

OK, so maybe YOU should demand that none of them march in the parade. Aside from the 'dead relatives,' all the others and more regularly march in the parade. Also noted some high school marching bands, some little league teams, a group of old ladies. Well f@ck, why not cancel the parade altogether since it seems to have nothing to do with honoring the dead...and more to do about liberals or whatever.

Hack,

Maybe you missed the headline of Justin Mason's article, I'll put it up as a reminder.

ROTTERDAM
Parade honors firefighters who battled flood

I don't give a sh*t who marches in the parade, I don't care if the strippers from DeCarlo's are marching in the parade, as long as they march HONORING FALLEN WAR VETERANS and NOT VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTERS.

This may not have been the first time non veterans were grand marshall's, but it sure had to be one of the first times that a local rag newspaper HACK REPORTER headlined the event as honoring FIRE FIGHTERS that responded to a natural disaster instead of dead war veterans.

They refuse to actually look at the facts -- such as that the Veterans who organized the parade made the decision on Grand Marshalls and NOT the town officials.  Facts don't matter to them -- ,

Facts DO MATTER...that's why I asked you to shwo the facts instead of just spewing words that we are suppossed to believe, but you sidestep that request as susal...SHOW US THE SUPPORTING FACTS TO YOUR CLAIM !!!!

Everyone should MARCH. However as far as what the Holiday HONORS - no, it is not supposed to be volunteer or paid firemen or cops or paramedics. The Holiday and its fanfare should be about the men who gave all. Those who we have obviously forgotten, thanks to a media who is undereducated and could care less. A media who wants to be on the politically correct bandwagon and who hates tradition.

I don't give a fig what the town does with the parade. The town has no class. In a few years it will be about women role models and gay artists probably anyway., Dead white men are out of style.

It was the VETERANS themselves that decided to honor the most venerable Volunteer First Responders in such a way as to make this Parade a tribute to THEM and their selflessness! Only an ignorant nayboob as*hole would NOT want to recognize that the volunteerism and spirit of patriotism between Veterans, and ALL First Responders is essentially equal. The bravery exhibited by our wonderful young men and women in uniform in the face of a horrible natural disaster last year was equal to any battlefield act of valor... and if any nayboobs wants to continue to besmirch and degrade our volunteers as to make them less worthy then I will personally meet any one of them in single combat in a neutral place of their choosing!

As to the continued insults to teachers, journalists and ALL women -- well that is just typical GOP misogynist hatred to some of the finest individuals in our nation!

It's all about the  V E T E R A N S.....let there be a firefighthers' parade......we are losing touch with tradition and the true meaning of MEMORIAL DAY.

a non vet leading the parade is an embarrassmet to the American Flag and who fought in the WARS.....they were horrific and in times when the country was

patriotic to the core.....politically correctness doesn't exist on this day......

WHERE IS PATRIOTISM IN THIS TOWN???

Young people really don't 'know' anyone that well who was at Anzio, Bastogne or Iwo. To them, a high paid, well benefited public worker is the 'hero.' And as far as volunteer firemen go- I respect what they do. But they are NOT THE SUBJECT OF THIS HOLIDAY!

Celebrities get more recognition than do our veterans.....the fact remains that we don't talk to our children about the past.....in my family we do

therefore, knowledge is not learned behavior in school or college.....didn't any of these people have relatives that fought in our wars....and why???

the children of today do not know what they should know....

I am appalled they would rather talk on cell phones, computers...and watch stupid reality shows.....and mimmicking what they see...

now parents....wasted money for education???  not really....they learned how to use their limbs to pick up a glass and drink...and many veterans came back

from the wars not being able to use them........God bless our VETERANS.....

The Veterans planned THEIR parade.  The Veterans chose whom THEY would honor.

So quit your bitching and whining and sponsor YOUR OWN parade if you didn't like it.

What Veterans planned "their" parade?  Who were these veterans?  Was there some kind of secret veterans vote?  Was any of the $3000 in the budget for 'Parade Expense' spent on this parade?

BTW, the people being memorialized ARE DEAD!!!   Their voices weren't heard when the decision was made to recognize Rotterdam's jolly volley clubs.

How about the first responders have their own parade instead of hijacking Memorial Day?  If these jolly volley's had a shred of decency, they would have declined any recognition on a day set aside for those that died fighting in our nations wars.

I agree that the parade should NOT have been to honor 'fire fighters' who helped with the flood. That is not what Memorial Day was originally created for.........it was created to remember those who have fallen during war time to protect our freedoms.

But lets remember here that we are talking about incestuous ROTT-EN-DAM!! Where there is no class. A kind of 'DELIVERANCE MENTALITY' if you will. It's a backward kinda town...where even the true PROGRESSIVES can't move past themselves! A place where crime and taxes and corruption is on the rise. A place where welfare and pitbulls will become front page of the gazetto in the very near future. Where it's not what you know...but who you know. Where 'uniforms' rule the day. It's nothing more than 2-way streets to NOWHERE!!!

Honestly.......no one should really be that surprised in ROTT-EN-DAM!!

The lefty nut jobs are now running  the ROTT-EN-DAM show! And look at what a great job they are doing?

so BT what you are saying it should be expected????   left or right.....it was wrong not to march for the VETERANS....

ask any REAL vet...not a self proclaimed....they will tell  you and in no uncertain language.....

and just how many VETS are on the TB or  appointed ?   who served...back in the day there was a draft....and just as many men and women volunteered to

serve..

GOD BLESS OUR VETS

The only people with "no-class" are the ones criticizing the parade.  The people in town are tired of your constant barrage of negative attacks on our town.

Perhaps not 'expected'......but don't be surprised to see what comes out of ROTTEN-DAM'S TH. The lefty progressive liberal nut jobs are in charge.........don't be surprised about anything!!!

You can already see what's coming to ROTTEN-DAM by looking at how well the lefty nut jobs are running the white house, the state AND let's not forget the glorious city of schenectady that the gazetto says is in a renaissance!!!

Just look all around you and don't be SURPRISED!!...IMHO of course!
