Here's a mystery that may go unsolved...................and really the only two other than myself that may have a clue may be Joann and joebxr but I'll ask anyway......................the photo below is a house on Helderberg Ave., Leo Ave. is one house to the right............what looks like an addition on the two family house has been there for as long as I remember and that is the mystery.....................if memory serves me right (these days it doesn't always) that addition was home to several businesses. Any idea what they may have been?...........I seem to remember a small Mom and Pop grocery store when we first moved to Rotterdam in '53 and there may also have been a flooring company there too.................just a curious question on a rainy morning...................

I don't remember this property so I must not be a old geezer!
But seriously, it doesn't even look familiar to me.  Maybe that means I really am an old geezer who can't remember squat!

LOL...........no problem maybe joebxr remembers......it's funny the stuff I remember or think I remember, and this one could very well go on as a mystery...........btw I will no longer refer to you as a geezer, I think the feminine term would be geezette.......

cass's - is what we used to call it - I'm pretty sure that was the name of it.  Maybe that was the one on the side street off held ... but there was a market/candy shop down towards guilderland ave .. then it was a tattoo place .. then something, now it looks like it's an apartment

I think I'm older than Alias as I'll hit 69 this year and I grew up over near the 5 corners area but I don't remember what that building is either.

oh yeah I vaguely remember the one towards guilderland now...............Midget market was owned by the lovelasses (sp) just across the street from oaklawn where the apartments are now.....................funny, I can even remember the names of some of the folks who lived in the houses along helderberg..........Billy Pompillio lived on the corner of oaklawn and helderberg,,,,marchensoni's (sp) westside and helderberg,,maynard's across from the little super.........Mott's lived across from the garage on leo..............santabarbara's a few doors down from the funeral home,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,joebxr across the street next door to the viely's........warren starr a few doors down on the same side of the street as us............bobby madison in the house on the corner of leo and helderberg.........slingerland and angelozzi's in the 2 family across from cedarlawn............the lichwa's (sp) gary and judy in the house next to the bridge............damn I have to stop this I feel my age today...........

btw this kind of thing is what really pissed me off about he who shall remain nameless.............freakin' guy has a chance to do something productive with the history of our town but for whatever selfish reason refuses to do so

Warren is still there - I see him and his lovely wife frequently.

The more things change, the more they remain the same.

I don't remember Midget Market - can't even imagine that in this location.  Interesting.

I remember when Warren moved into that house.....................is his wife's name Elaine?.......................Warren was one of the few "big kids" that was nice to us little ones.....................he originally lived in a house 3 doors down from us.................he'd take us in the backyard and I think they had rabbits or something and let us look at them,,,,,,,,,,,,,show us the garden........it was all very cool to us back then hanging with the older kids............
