Watched the National News Weds. evening and this caught our eye. The Brazilian Gov't is trying to crack down/eliminate Twitter from allowing it's users the ability to Tweet on the location of Mot. Veh. speed traps in the country. They have filed an injunction vs. the company. Wonder if traps location are Tweeted in this country. Know that in this country there is a website that welcomes your contribution in regard to the location of such traps. Don't know if it is legal to submit your contribution. Any thoughts on this?

Why would you want someone to avoid a DWI checkpoint? If they are drunk, they are a danger to themselves and every one else around them. I wish they'd do more DWI checkpoints.

Sober folks don't want to have to be held up at these check points, so it gives them the option of an alternate route.....k?

No of course I don't . But if anyone can afford to get drunk, they can afford to take a cab, or call a friend. Even call a cop if you find yourself with out a ride and no way home. The alternative can be deadly. I have no mercy for a drunk driver who insists on putting everyone else's life at risk.

...because it is a random search of property. Reckless driving is the law that addresses drunk driving. DWI is a revenue generator. Why don’t they administer an 11 panel roadside urine test? They only test for one intoxicant, alcohol, because it is cost effective to test for, and more widely used. It’s a numbers game.
But, to the statist, random checkpoints make them feel safer and in control of danger. Obey the state, it is for everybody's safety.

Between April 1, 1994 and March 31, 1995, a total of 882 checkpoints were held, compared to the typical 10 to 15 checkpoints that had been conducted each year for the previous five years. A total of 144,299 drivers passed through these checkpoints with 773 arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). An additional 201 drivers were arrested for drug violations and 84 for youth offender violations. Thirty-five felony arrests were made, 49 weapons were seized, 1,517 drivers were cited for safety belt or child restraint violations, and 7,351 received other traffic citations.
Alcohol-Related Fatalities Down for the Next Two Years
Time series analyses were used to determine the effects of the checkpoint program on traffic fatalities. The results showed a statistically significant effect for the checkpoint program amounting to a reduction of about nine alcohol-impaired driving fatal crashes per month.
This was a 20.4 percent reduction over the projected number of impaired driving fatal crashes that would have occurred with no intervention.
This effect was still present 21 months after the initial year.
They should put DUI check points and speed traps on every road in Montgomery and Fulton Counties.

Authorities believe Justin Vannostrand, 19 was showing off the V8 engine in his 2000 Ford Mustang, passing friends driving in two other vehicles while crossing into the oncoming lane of the two-lane road, possibly hitting speeds of 100 miles per hour.

What makes anyone think that there are NO speedtraps as it is? Why don't we just hire 1,000,000 more cops. It get more and more ridiculous. We can't afford the level of "protection" we already have.
