First.........PP is being investigated by congress to see what $$$$ was funding abortions. Komen organization did the right thing.

Second........I don't agree, support, or cheer for any organization that is anti-parental consent for minors!!

Planned Parenthood sees fundraising spike after losing big supporter.

(CNN) - Planned Parenthood reported on Wednesday raising $400,000 in the 24 hours following its announcement that
a major backer, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, was ending its partnership with the group.

In a statement Tuesday, Planned Parenthood said the Komen Foundation had "succumbed to political pressure," and
on Wednesday, a spokesperson said its supporters responded in droves.

About 6,000 donors gave online contributions starting Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon, as news
of the decision made headlines.

"People respond powerfully when they see politics interfering with women's health. That's why we've seen a
tremendous outpouring of support," said Andrea Hagelgans, spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood.

who cares about komen removing support.....they too are a not for profit *cough*......

And that's the way it should be done through charity, although I would have expected more than $400,000 considering all the supposed support PP has.

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said Komen was cowering at the prospect of a GOP “witch hunt.”

“I was perplexed and troubled to see the decision by Susan G. Komen for the Cure to cut off funding for life-saving breast
cancer screenings through Planned Parenthood because of a political witch hunt by House Republicans,” Boxer said in
a statement. “I truly hope that they will reconsider this decision and put the needs of women first.”

Komen’s Facebook page was flooded Wednesday with angry denunciations from people vowing to no longer donate
money or participate in the group’s events.

“They’ve really hurt their own cause,” said Judith Waxman, vice president of health and reproductive rights at the
National Women’s Law Center.

She said Komen has alienated part of its fundraising and advocacy base while undermining its core mission — helping
fight breast cancer.
Planned Parenthood performed about 170,000 breast-cancer screenings over the past five years
with Komen funding.

The Komen foundation can give the money to many other organizations out there that can provide the same service. Not all of women's health issues are dealt with exclusively through PP.

We have friends who have had breast cancer and we all participate in the Komen run in albany. Have for the last 3 years. Many areas hold their own fundraisers and the money goes to their local clinics/hospitals for free breast cancer screening and research.

PP is not exclusive to women's health issues.

Lisa Augustine raised more than $3,000 and walked 60 miles for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure fundraiser shortly
after undergoing surgery and radiation for breast cancer in 2010.

But the 39-year-old Napa woman will no longer contribute after the decision by the nation's leading breast cancer charity
to withdraw support from Planned Parenthood for breast exams for low-income women.

Planned Parenthood and other groups accuse the Komen foundation of bowing to political pressure from antiabortion groups,
a contention Komen denies.

Either way, Augustine said she will now direct her donations to Planned Parenthood and other cancer organizations -
and end all ties to Komen.

"It's very disappointing that they're going to stop funding this because of politics. When it comes to our health, why
are politics involved?" said Augustine, who used Planned Parenthood's services when she had no insurance, and donated
money and time to the organization.

Call it a pink backlash against the group responsible for making the iconic pink ribbon and sponsoring Race for the Cure
fundraisers.

Charity blasted

Within hours of word getting out this week that Susan G. Komen for the Cure had stopped funding the Planned
Parenthood Federation of America, people took to Facebook, Twitter and public message boards, mostly to express
outrage.

"I believe that the Susan G. Komen foundation saved my life," wrote one woman on Komen's Bay Area affiliate's
Facebook page. "But since they have chosen not to give funding and support to Planned Parenthood, I will no
longer give one penny to the organization and will tell everyone I know to do the same.

"How dare they bow to political pressure when they say that their goal is to give ALL women the chance to catch
breast cancer early."

"Uninsured women will suffer most as a result of any funding cuts to Planned Parenthood," said Karuna Jaggar, Breast
Cancer Action's executive director. "It's just enormously disappointing to people who have really invested in Komen as
the largest breast cancer organization in the world."

The Susan G. Komen Fund has always been about preventing and treating breast cancer... Now politics has changed their
focus to Fighting a Woman's Right To Choose.  In the end, women, especially poor women will pay the price for Komen's
politics.

breast cancer early."

All women have a chance...It's sad to see how many people feel they have a lack of control over their own health and own lives without Planned Parenthood.  I can believe the Feminazi's that bow down to the alter of PP try to strong arm an charity into bowing to their beliefs.  Talk about zealots!!  Here is a list of other womens health charities they can squeeze for abortion funding.
