People have commented to me that they are VERY unhappy to be moving to such a congested and phony area such as Wolf road -- when in FACT -- they are perfectly happy enjoying the charm of Downtown Schenectady and all that it has to offer..   Although I am an enthusuastic supporter of the wildly successful Governor Cuomo -- I certainly would beseech him to allow those who ARE downtown to STAY Downtown!

What people?   Cite names.    Oh, maybe a FEW who might live within a few miles.   Or, like I said, people who might come from the Amsterdam area and they have to drive further.

What does downtown have to offer?    Does it offer the ability to buy things that people NEED?   Clothes, shoes, coats, house needs, DVDs, CDs, electronics, hardware & tools, flooring, jewelry, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.   Well?  Other than the fine goods one can buy at Rudnicks, what can you buy besides stuffing your face.   And by the way, state employees cannot come back to work smelling of alcohol so they're not going to be hitting the gin mills during lunch

and what is with the monkey demanding names and additional proof ? --- the boorish lout quotes articles from some right-wing trash or from the "looney bin" also known as AM 1300 or  something that his "wife" yells up  tohim in the attic that she has him locked in .. and expects everyone else to accept that crap as the truth.

The fact is that the local media has indicated that NOT ALL STATE WORKERS LIKE THE IDEA OF MOVING TO WOLF ROAD and that SOME OF THE STATE WORKERS PREFER TO WORK IN DOWNTOWN SCHENECTADY.

Wolf Road is not perfect .. neither is Downtown Schenectady ---  although the one advantage of Wolf Road is that it is a much shorter drive to - Krause's - one of the top 2 candy stores in the Capital Region  (and the other one of the top 2 is just a short drive up the Northway on Route 9).

State to fill downtown offices
Workers’ comp board to replace DOT

    The state’s Workers’ Compensation Board plans to move 300 employees into downtown Schenectady to fill the State Street building that currently houses about 200 state Department of Transportation workers.
    The Workers’ Compensation Board employees will be coming from Albany as part of the state’s restacking effort.
    The news comes two weeks after the state announced it would be emptying 328 State St., which had served as the regional headquarters for the state DOT. A DOT spokeswoman previously said the move out of the building is supposed to be accomplished by late March. Those workers will be moved to statewide DOT headquarters in Colonie.
    Heather Groll, spokeswoman for the state Office of General Services, which is overseeing the state’s restacking efforts to fill its buildings with employees, said the switch in Schenectady will essentially make a full building.
    “They fit the space well, with the functions that they provide and the way they use space and the number of employees they have,” Groll said of the Workers’ Compensation Board employees that are moving from Park Street in Albany to Schenectady. She added that it is possible the number of employees moving into Schenectady will be slightly more than 300.
    A time frame for the employees to move into the building has not been set, but it will be done in concert with the vacating DOT employees.
    “We would like to get it done as quickly as possible,” she said.
    Assemblyman James Tedisco, R-Glenville, said it was good news for Schenectady that it was getting this infl ux of people to replace the outgoing people.

This is fantastic news - especially since it will have more people than previously...

And because for once Metroplex isn't giving away taxpayer dollars to make it happen.

Hopefully this will help some of the businesses downtown that I do believe are struggling.

Or do we just care about our backyard? It's nothing more than re-arranging the deck chairs.

What a pile of crap

100 jobs for Schdy... is a good thing.
Jobs anywhere in the Capitol District is a good thing.  Some people who live in Schdy work in Albany, or Troy.

Had these jobs left for Buffalo, Syracuse or downstate, it would have meant a loss for our area.
There are people on this board, if given $100, they'd gripe that it wasn't $200.

The building is owned by the State and pays no taxes. 240 high paying DOT workers went out and maybe 250 low paid Workers Comp workers come in. Both groups brown bag it. BFD! It does absolutely nothing to help the broke City and busted City school system. The shell game continues and yes more Pentagon's and Olender's are about to go belly up. Watch the DEM spin machine add 300 jobs to their mythical "jobs created" totals. Without ever subtracting anything.

This is NOT 'job creation'. There were NO new jobs created here. There were no jobs lost and no jobs gained. These jobs have just been re-distributed. There is no net gain nor a net loss. The truth is that most of downtown schenectady are nothing more than re-distributed/relocated jobs. And ironically they are all at the expense to the taxpayers.............k?
