There are some people that feel that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob got pissed off at the Indians for praying to the sun and the moon and took the land from them.  It  not really a government issue.

In the context of 2012 and the reservations impact on poverty in box's silly statistics, it's a government issue.

A newspaper is a device for making the ignorant more ignorant and the crazy crazier.

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.
~ H. L. Mencken

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

They have good reason to vote for anyone but a Republican... Their states Republican views is why they are so poor.

You know, I read through this entire thread, and I can tell you one reason that none of the counties on the list of the poorest counties are not "blue" counties. It's probably the fact that many of them have kept the costs lower, therefore the people in the counties don't need to make as much money to live on.  I would bet that most of them live in "red" counties, too.

These aren't low income Americans living by choice in a good tax situation... these are the Poorest of Americans,
barely existing in a community with little hope of improvement.

leveling the playing field is about as good as we can get.....even then, we didn't make the universe or the mind of man........

the blues/reds will continue to red line......neither is privy to good/gooder/goodest........

And apparently, the Rich and the Tweeners will live in both Red and Blue states, but the poor will continue to live
in Red Republican states.

it doesn't matter where they live.....THEY STAY.....sometimes I think we should just be gypsies and keep the government guessing.....but we remain sooooooo predictable....those folks
who stay are predictable....homeless folks are predictable.....CEO's are predictable....why????

because that's who we are.....are there some cases of FORCED poverty...sure, probably.....but where is the quick punishment? and who even knows what FORCED poverty is in America????

* 92 percent of poor households have a microwave.
* Nearly three-fourths have a car or truck, and 31 percent have two or more cars or trucks.
* Nearly two-thirds have cable or satellite TV.
* Two-thirds have at least one DVD player, and 70 percent have a VCR.
* Half have a personal computer, and one in seven have two or more computers.
* More than half of poor families with children have a video game system, such as an Xbox or PlayStation.
* 43 percent have Internet access.
* One-third have a wide-screen plasma or LCD TV.
* One-fourth have a digital video recorder system, such as a TiVo.

* 96 percent of poor parents stated that their children were never hungry at any time during the year because they could not afford food.

* 83 percent of poor families reported having enough food to eat.
* 82 percent of poor adults reported never being hungry at any time in the prior year due to lack of money for food.
