When is rotterdam going to take down their lighted snowflakes????? Christmas is over....yes?
OMG!!!
Snowflakes are a symbol for WINTER .... and the season goes on for another 2 months.
“And yet our opponents tell us not to interfere with abortion. They tell us not to impose our morality on those who wish to allow or participate in the taking of the life of infants before birth. Yet no one calls it imposing morality to prohibit the taking of life after a child is born. We’re told about a woman’s right to control her own body. But doesn’t the unborn child have a higher right, and that is to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?” – Ronald Reagan
Those snowflakes are just about the only snowflakes we have seen this winter. The best part is I don't have to clean them off the driveway, sidewalks or the car.

The snowflakes have ALWAYS remained up for a good portion of the winter season. The fact that they are still up is NOT something new --- but apparently it has given the nayboobs something to grumble about while they stuff their faces with donuts every day.

Why couldn't your answer have been more like: The snowflakes have ALWAYS remained up for a good portion of the winter season. The fact that they are still up is NOT something new --- but apparently it is a concern of some of the taxpayers that costs are being impacted. The next time I am at town hall on business, I will let them know about the concerns.

For one thing, I don't believe the cost is a huge concern. It will cost the same to take them down a month or so from now than it would to take them down now. The actual cost of the electricity is probably negligible and I rather like the snowflakes .... personally, I wish there were enough to go all the way down Altamont Avenue and all along Curry Rd to 5 corners.
For another thing, it really isn't my job to pass along YOUR concerns or OTHER PEOPLES" concerns. You know where town hall is and it is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM .. the mailing address is public knowledge and the mail person delivers mail there every day .. and they do have working telephones to receive phone calls. If YOU or OTHERS are concerned about something than it is YOUR responsibility or THEIR responsibility to bring your concern or their concern to the attention of town officials.
Of course - there are many PLEASANT and POSITIVE people who speak to me .. and who don't make up nasty lies about me and my family who ask me to share their concerns with town officials ----- and I am more than willing to oblige them (and have taken their concerns to town hall). But I really don't see the need to go out of my way to do anything for vicious, negative people who personally insult me and lie about me.

I only offerd a suggestion that would have taken the "softer" tone...if you choose to follow that path is up to you. And I will tell you that as a member of Town Board, Parks & Rec, etc., I think that when you are made aware of issues or concerns, you have an underlying duty to do your best to communicate those concerns to the powers you speak to (not asking you go out of your way) regardless of your personal feelings about those voicing concern...you are an appointed representative of the town who is expected to act in an unbiased manner. You have called out others for not acting that way so you should take the higher road. And for the record, I have not said anything about your family...and again, offered you some advice that might help you to overcome the terrible reputation (not a lie or attack) that you have. Meanwhile, have a wonderful day!!!!

Of course cost is not a concern to you!!!!! You don't pay any taxes!!!!!!!!!!!! You do NOT pay utility bills!!!!
Many people would love to have their houses decorated from Thanksgiving through the 12th day of Christmas, but guess what, DV, we have our own electric bills to pay, so we have our houses lighted for 2 or 3 weeks. We cannot afford to pay for months and months of snowflakes, as nice as they are.
Go out and buy snowflakes yourself, pay OUT OF YOUR OWN DAMN POCKET for someone to put them up, and then PAY OUT OF YOUR OWN DAMN POCKET the National Grid bill.
Dang DV, why do you expect the taxpyaers to pay for every little thing for you!!!! Get off your duff and get a job like the rest of us and support yourself, Stop sponging off the taxpayers and sto sponging off those who sponge off the taxpayers
Now, if the FULL cost of these snowflakes is entirely born by the merchants--and you can provide a link to the proof, like minutes of a merchants assoc or some report, then fine, they can keep them up.

I have a good reputation --- despite the attempts of certain folks including someone who posted just after you to make up a bunch of lies,
To answer your concerns and his/her concerns ---- those snowflakes were purchased a number of years ago .. long before I was involved in way in the town. There is no reason for me to produce proof of who paid for what or what it costs to power them --- if anybody has a question about that ... he or she should call town hall and ask there. It is NOT an issue that falls under any position or commission with which I am involved -----------and quite frankly I do NOT see a problem with the snowflakes being up all winter and being lit and that is that.
I normally don't respond to the other he-she critic --- but I will say this it is absolutely asinine to accuse me of asking the taxpayers to pay for my Christmas decorations. I simply have never asked the town to pay for ANYTHING that belongs to me or that I use. And I would challenge the he-she critic to actually prove that i have asked the town taxpayers to pay for anything that belongs to me or that I use.
I have never submitted to the town an invoice or request for reimbursement for any expenses that I have incurred in the performance of my duties -- and I have donated 1/2 of 2011 stipend BACK to the town and intend to donate the other half to either the town or a cause within the town (non-partisan and not for profit) in the very near future.

And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
