#Schenectady County — A former Troy police officer is ready to investigate crimes once again, but not the kind of cases he used to focus on.

#David Dean was sworn in as the new chief humane officer for the Schenectady County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Tuesday, Jan. 3, following Matthew Tully’s resignation due to his upcoming military deployment scheduled for July 2012.

#Dean, formerly Detective Sergeant for the Troy Police Department, has 20 years of law enforcement experience aptly preparing him for his new position. Why did Tully single out APF in his attacks?

    I find Mathew Tully’s Jan. 3 letter [“APF has resources but not willingness to help SPCA shelter animals”] most troubling, since he failed to mention that other area shelters were also contacted to house the four pit bulls and, like the APF [Animal Protective Foundation], they did not have space available to accept them, as reported in your Dec. 30 newspaper.
    I do hope the county Legislature is keeping tabs on all his bullying tactics and misrepresentations. It would appear Mr. Tully hopes that by whining about the APF, donors will instead support the newly formed Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
    The APF receives no tax dollars but is fortunately supported by generous donations, a dedicated staff and volunteers who work hard providing a safe and clean shelter. As a former APF board member, I know they work continuously to minimize increasing expenses and to finding ways to generate funding in order to afford care for the animals and to increase facility capacity when fi scally possible.
    And one other thing: Watching Mr. Tully in his TV service announcements is quite laughable. While the message to properly care for animals is a worthy one, it’s way too threatening coming from someone puffed up in his SPCA uniform. Right message but wrong messenger with a very bad delivery.

The best way to protect animals is to give your money directly to a no kill shelter of your choice.

Have you seen the threatening video from Tully in his black SS uniform? No one would even think about risking getting a pet with this guy trying to make an example out of you...

"Ooooooh, your dog is in the back yard and it is cold out? YOU are going to jail, or maybe I work you over with a nightstick?" "Ooooh so you CLAIM that you fed your cat today and gave her a heated and waterproof house? THEN WHY did I see her under your front porch? Maybe I should knock your teeth out????"

This guy look utterly dangerous. He is a lawyer in a black uniform with an axe to grind and he has the full weight of the democrap party behind him in Schenectady County. Do YOU want to mess with him or his new swat team partner? I don't think so... I feel sorry for the Animal Protective Foundation. They have a target on their heads and their days are not long. Now...the county police can get their hands on ALL THAT MONEY TOO!!!!
