Shen girls' soccer team destroyed trophy as coach watched By PETE IORIZZO, Staff writer Updated 07:01 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2011 Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/spor.....89.php#ixzz1hJTCPNN2
I'm torn on this one. Like the passion but not the venue. The should have waited until they were private with it. I hate the entitlement these days. Trophies for all, even last place. The bar has been lowered in America. It's not about winning or losing. It's about not losing - Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends! |

the natives are getting restless because being or attempting to be the best that you want to be and it not being PC for showing anger because you feel that you failed yourself....
dont bother attempting to be 'best' unless you can take coattail hangers with you..... |

These kids should be reminded that it was a GAME aka CONTEST! And not everyone can be #1.
I wonder if these girls think that they are the #1 beauty in the school/society. Or perhaps the #1 smartest in school/society. Or perhaps the #1 richest in school/society. Or perhaps they are just spoiled brats!!! |

It sounds like perhaps they were pissed off and disgusted at themselves and want to be #1, so they denounce the "#2" trophy they received. If a bunch of hyper competitive girls smashing a cheap fake chipboard Chinese-made plaque is a news story I would HATE to see what their parents (and school officials) did 30 years ago that didn't make the newspaper. We were all a little dumb, clumsy, rude and misbehaved a little when we got into a "wolf pack" at that age... The fact that it is in the paper is what cracks me the heck up! We have butt probes on our kids 24-7 now and that is what disturbs me. |

It is bad sportsmanship -- plain and simple -- to throw the trophy to the ground. The coach should be fired for not intervening and the girls should be disciplined. |

Oh how perfect you are! What an angel you were at 16! I am sure you never threw an egg, yelled a curse, or threw your cig butt out the window. You should be fired from life for expecting children to be at a higher standard then adults and not be ever able to blow off steam. It was nice to see kids WANT to win. If they are half as competitive in their grades then some of them might be doctors and scientists and better the country and the world. Only lobs like you make nothing of themselves and get to criticize teenagers. Terrific sad loser that you are. No life, no accomplishment, no job, no legacy when you go under, no relationship, just pathetic. |

Shen has the absolutely best sports program in the area. Highly doubt that anyone will be fired or disciplined.
Shen strives to be #1 in wrestling, soccer, baseball, football, basketball. Most of their students begin a sport very young and strive for success in both academics and athletics.
Could you imagine how wonderful such a program would be at the Schenectady City Schools? Kids on the field and off the streets. Rather have kids beating up a trophy than beating up each other.... |

Your just mad because the only sport you have played is hotdog eating. |

The nayboobs will resort to personal attacks because they can't offer factual, logical and/or intelligent points to support their arguments. I always do -- that is why I've whipped their asses in debate -- so many times.
A careful reading of my statement holds the ADULT to a high standard --- THE COACH SHOULD BE FIRED. And the students -- who did NOT behave well as evidenced by their unsportsmanlike conduct should be disciplined --- but I did not suggest a harsher penalty for them as compared to the coach.
As far as the quality of the sports program at any school -- IMHO -- I don't care if they win state championships or come in second in state championships -- if a school produces students who act like immature, unsportsmanlike brats .... THEN THE SPORTS PROGRAM HAS FAILED.
BTW -- I have participated in interscholastic sports --- our teams won state championships in Football, Basketball and Baseball ALL IN ONE YEAR. We were great athletes but more importantly -- we were trained and expected to behave like gentlemen and good representatives of our school. Those who could not behave appropriately were disciplined accordingly.

There is no excuse for acting like a classless unsportsmanlike lout -- whether you are a member of a local high school sports team or one of the nayboobs who post here. |

"Ballboys"? Isn't that what they called the little boys at Penn State? |
