SCHENECTADY COUNTY
Tax levy level, but rates to be adjusted

BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette Reporter
The 2012 Schenectady County property tax rates per $1,000 assessed value, and the percentage change from 2011:

Schenectady County’s four largest municipalities will see slight tax increases as a result of a schedule approved by county legislators this week.
But for the second straight year, residents in Princetown and Duanesburg will realize modest decreases in county taxes as a result of the schedule.
The bump up for the three other towns and the city comes despite assurances of a zero percent tax increase when the budget passed in October.
In fact, it was the tax levy that did not increase. Based on changing values of properties in each of the municipalities, property taxpayers in each municipality will have to pay a slightly smaller or larger portion of the tax levy, resulting in the tax rate decreases or increases.
Rotterdam will see the largest jump in county tax rates, 1.5 percent. The town’s rate will jump 10 cents next year, meaning a resident with a home valued at $100,000 will pay about $10 more in county taxes.
County legislators approved a $295.3 million budget for 2012 that carried no increase in the property tax levy in October. The budget restored funding for home-delivered meals to senior citizens and the position of director of weights and measures and provided money for a suicide prevention program that had lost state funding.
At the time, Legislature Chairwoman Judy Dagostino described the budget as reducing the burden on taxpayers despite an increase in unfunded mandates passed down from the state. She said the budget wouldn’t include a tax increase.
“This year’s zero percent increase is in addition to four tax cuts in the past six years,” she said in October.
Dagostino could not be reached for comment Tuesday. ....................>>>>..................>>>>..............................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01102&AppName=1

But they said ... no tax increases, didn't they?  Of course Rotterdam is the highest hit - they wouldn't have it any other way.

None of the above is a state mandate.

I'm sorry, did you people even know who was running and the platform they ran on?

Let's see...Dems raise taxes, we know this already

Current state GOP platform...Raise taxes 4% per year or rate of inflation, whatever is lower

Local NNTP platform....Same as above.

Local Alliance Party platform....Same as above.

Guess it didn't matter who was elected in

The following is all copied and pasted  with original dates as shown.   (By the way, DV, “copy and paste” means it IS the EXACT posting, the EXACT wording, no editing, no changing anything, not even one little punctuation mark is changed when one  does “copy and paste.”)

Quote from DV posted on Oct 20, 2011 at 11:25 p.m.

The Democrats on the County Legislature have hit another home run for the taxpayers of Schenectady County. With a 0% tax increase --- to add to their frugal spending and taxing record.   County taxpayers have seen tax cuts in 4 of the past 6 years .. tax rates at the lowest level since the 1950's ... economic development growing the tax base ALL OVER THE COUNTY.

Quote from DV posted on Oct 21, 2011 at 6:16 p.m.

apparently the NAYBOOBS are too stupid to understand the difference between  COUNTY TAXES -- CITY TAXES -- SCHOOL TAXES

the COUNTY TAX RATE is at its lowest rate since the 1950's   -- and there will be  NO TAX INCREASE (which is what 0% means for the dipshit-dimwits from the NNTP/GOP/TeaParty)  in 2012

Quote from MikeChristine1 posted on October 21, 2011 at 6:40 p.m.

YOU CANNOT COMPREHEND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TAX LEVY, TAX RATE AND TAX BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The tax LEVY can go down

The tax RATE can go down

The tax BILLS can go up up up!!!!!!!!

And THAT is an UNDISPUTABLE, UNDENIABLE FACT FACT FACT FACT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As YOUR dem socialists remove more and more anbd more and more downtown properties from taxable status., the amount of money lost to the county by virtue of exrempting the dem cronies from paying taxes must STILL be collected by the county - your dem socialists in the county make the homeonwers THROUGHOUT the county pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!

An so, once again, I take a bow for telling the TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH, AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH!    And, in my post above I explained that even when the tax RATES go down, the tax BILLS can go up!!!!!

And the tax RATES for the COUNTY PORTION of the total tax bill (city taxes, county taxes and school taxes) - the COUNTY PORTION OF THE TOTAL TAX BILL IS INDEED GOING UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    As I stated.

DV is  LIAR, LIAR, LIAR, LIAR, LIAR, LIAR, LIAR, LIAR, LIAR, LIAR,

Let's see DV try to explain his way out of this one.   Let's see DV provide one TEENY WEENY SHRED OF PROOF that the COUNTY PORTION of the tax BILLS are going down.!!!!    Come on DV, let's see your proof.

Where is you proof DV??????     Where is your proof DV??????

The Democrats in the County Legislature DID cut taxes but Mr DelGallo and Mr. Godlewski's insistence on NOT cooperating with the County COSTS Rotterdam taxpayers money because their simple failure to plan made this unavoidable.....  Only an ignorant Nayboob or Teapartier would NOT understand that Rotterdam has NOT been in the hands or REAL Democrats for some 8 years...

Another comment of sheer utter desparation from DV!!!!!!!         Uh, DV aka Hamburg, you obviously are proving AGAIN, your TOTAL STUPIDITY.......and you have proven again that you do not NOR HAVE EVER OWNED property.

This is COUNTY taxes, not town taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!    County taxes are NOT assessed to municipallities based on a county legislative body's like or dislike of leaders of a city, town, nor of their cooperation of lack thereof, not on party affiliation, not on the support of locals for county programs or lack thereof, etc.

So, once again DV you HAVE made a total A** of yourself.   Go get an education in taxes.   Even if the Rotterdam town leaders were county puppets, there would STILL be the SAME TAX INCREASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

And DV, YOU were the one who said 0% tax increase, what have you got to say for yourself now????????????    Huh?

They lied about the new County homes cost, pension padding, County taxes, jobs created, ALCO-what else is new? Do you really expect them to run on their pathetic record? Highest County taxes in the region, highest property taxes in region-Schenectady, number 3 in worst taxes-Scotia, tenth worst-Rotterdam. They call it renaissance and all of them got re-elected! More like fooled us since we started voting. Keep believing the slime mailers.
