I decided to log back into see what is going on in Rotterdam and see that there has been some speculation about what went on with the sale of my old business, Shoporama pizza. I was forced to close my business about a year and a half ago after a long and personal legal battle (divorce) which weighed very heavily on me. Fortunately (or unfortunately as the circumstances may be) after the devastating fire at the old 4 corners location I was able to sell by business of 20plus years to the well know local proprietors of the former 4 corners pizzeria.
After various employment opportunities and due to the overwhelming request of Rotterdam patrons, I have made the decision that Rotterdam is my home and pizza is my world. I am reopening the location that was formerly Sorrento's Ristorante on Guilderland Avenue, and welcome my partners..Eric Nous of Rotterdam and Michele Miele..who many of you may be familiar with from her 16 years at Consumer Optical. Together we feel we can provide the service that so many of you have humbled me with by your outpouring of concern since my closing. I look forward to seeing you and we plan to open approximately January 3rd if not sooner.......Please feel free to stop in and say hello...you have been my family since 1989 and it is time for a reunion.....
Fondly, Henry |

As you are planning your menu -- will you be offering a thin crust pizza? |

The free market will determine which places stay and which places don't make it.
Personally, I prefer home made pizza.

My favorite pizza is a thin crust pizza -- when I lived in Baltimore there was a place called Egyptian Pizza that specialized in a thin crust pizza. That was the best pizza that I ever had and while there are many good pizza places around here .. none has replicated the pizza served at Egyptian Pizza.
And yes - I do make pizza at home -- because I love to cook. My favorite home made pizza -- is thin crust with chopped onions, sliced kalamata olives and slices of tomato --- a very rustic style of pizza.
But I also look forward to your new pizza shop opening and being able to support a fine Rotterdam business person. |

Here we go with Egyptian Pizza again. Some Middle Easterner runs a pizza joint and ron thinks that they invented pizza there now. |

Actually, Egyptian Pizza was NOT owned by a Middle Easterner. It was a very popular pizza place on the northside of Baltimore.
Oh -- but for the record -- Ancient Egyptians had pizza and so did many other cultures 4000 years ago. |
