Multiple buyers? lol. For any of these? Schenectady Armory, Gillen's Gulch, Schenectady Federal Savings, State Theater, the old Trustco HQ, empty firehouses, 800 vacant properties rotting to the ground, Olender's Mattress 2 buildings, how many buyers are lined up? It's the record taxes-stupid. Keep the implosion going!

SCHENECTADY
Meeting foreclosure goal unlikely: Mayor
$400K revenue from building sales budgeted

BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Kathleen Moore at 395-3120 or moore@dailygazette.com.

The city has only just begun the long process of foreclosing on more than 100 houses, leading Mayor Gary McCarthy to acknowledge that he probably won’t meet his budgetary goal for selling those properties.
McCarthy was criticized before the election for budgeting $400,000 in sales of city-owned buildings. At the time, he said he expected city employees to rise to the challenge.
City officials had said they would begin tax-foreclosure proceedings in November. But letters are just now going out to more than 100 owners, notifying them that the city is about to take their property because they haven’t paid their taxes in years.
The law department is beginning a quick title search, but new Corporation Counsel John Polster said it will likely be early summer before the search is complete. Then he’ll go to court. Properties should be moving into city ownership by early fall.
That leaves the city with just four months, at best, to make $400,000 in sales.
“It is an aggressive schedule,” McCarthy said.
He admitted the city probably won’t get $400,000 of houses sold in that time, but said he expects other revenues to make up for the shortfall. Tax payments might go up, among other items.
“As we become more aggressive over foreclosures, I believe we will see other funds go in because people don’t want to lose the property,” he said.
And city officials are working hard to sell other properties that the city already owns.
“We’re getting away from this giving away for a dollar,” he said. “There are other properties owned by the city we’re moving on.” .......................>>>>.........................>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01100&AppName=1

In other words police road checks and increased parking enforcement. I watched a guy get a ticket the other day for leaving his car running while he ran inside Stewart's for a coffee, the people inside Stewart's couldn't believe it and were pretty disgusted.

The mayor already used those "increases expected in other revenues" in the budget.  The proposed and adopted budget was a fluff job.  He already accomplished what he intended to do which was pull the wool over the taxpayers eyes.  Played the shell game with fees.....

The $400,000 wont mean anything though compared to the holes left in the budget once our debt gets downgraded and the State pulls its teat away.

Gee, based on all the things DV says, Schenectady is in this the midst of a wonderful renaissance and that would mean people would go wild buying up houses in the city

ROFLMAO !!!

What have you got to say DV?????     Are YOU going to buy one of those houes?????????

Funny thing is, the city is using the money that belongs to the EXISTING homeowners, stealing the taxpayer mmoney, raping and robbing the EXISTING homeowners to do these utterly STUPID WASTEFUL projects such as those TOTALLY UNNECESSARY apartments in downtown on what was it, Union & Barrett, that area anyway.   The 2010 census shows that a WHOPPING 3,460 something EXISTING apartments are already vacant.   So, uh, can anyone explain why we are adding to the apartments in the city?

Where are the brains of these dems in power?

The city is following the tried and true method of creating jobs, today we dig a big hole and tomorrow we fill it in and keep repeating the procedure.

Gee I thought the sale of 100 foreclosed wrecks would balance the City budget- lol. Bring on the wrecking crew. No one wants to pay these sickening taxes. Until the taxes are lowered try and sell them the Metrograft way to a sucker for $1. Keep the progress going!

The "multiple buyers" will just be the existing tax delinquent landlords

Just like I have proven on another post -- that Stratton allowed a BIG TIME tax delinquent to buy more houses AFTER the guy declared bankruptcy

Heck, even DV is refusing to move into the city.  Even he won't buy a house for one dollar in the city!

They can't even aquire the properties timely.  They got tagged with the failure to properly title search on multiple properties most notable is the Foster Ave parcel.  Now they are gun shy.  The application to even purchase a foreclosure from the city is difficult now.  About 20 pages and guidelines and deadlines and projections.  There are not multiple buyers lined up.  Just fluff.  P Morris style.
