Violent weekend in Schenectady

Schenectady – Police in Schenectady are investigating two weekend shootings.
Police say shortly after 11 am Sunday a man was sitting in his car at the corner of Albany and Hulett Street in Schenectady when a gunman shot at his vehicle at least twice. One of the bullets entered the vehicle and struck the victim in his leg police tell CBS 6. The victim drove himself down the street to Mohawk Ambulance Service on State Street where paramedics treated him at the scene, then sent him to Albany Medical Center.
"Stockade-athon was run two hours ago less then a block from here. They were running down State Street so obviously a cause for alarm" said Lt. Mark McCracken of the Schenectady Police Department.
People in the area are alarmed and say the easy access to illegal guns is what police should be looking into.
"The amount of illegal guns that's our concern, the amount of illegal guns that are on the street right now" says Treasure Clayton with Project Hope.
Schenectady Police are investigating a string of shootings including one Saturday morning outside of Joe's bar in the Mont Pleasant area that claimed the life of 23 year old Rashad Robinson of Schenectady and injured two others.
"There has been a slight spike in shootings over the last 2-3 weeks" adds McCracken.
Detectives are looking at possible patterns in all the shootings. One factor not adding up: the time of day of each incident.
"Sporadic. Some occurring at night. We had a shooting at Club Reign last week. A shooting at Joe's very early Saturday morning and a shooting at Close Street a couple weeks ago that took place in the middle of the afternoon, early morning."
One thing's clear the violence isn't contained to Hamilton Hill. Neighbors in Mont Pleasant were shocked after Saturday's triple shooting but community leaders are not surprised that the violence is spreading.
"I think that it's overflowing into the backyards of other neighborhoods such as the Mont Pleasant area, the Rotterdam area. So if we can't control it here, it is going to overflow" says Clayton.

SOOOOO the police are worried about the people running in the Stockade athon- what about the people in the neighborhoods that HAVE to live with this shi* all the time.

The Gazette censors out bad news like that rather than expect the political class to deal with it. Dealing with criminality flies in the face of liberalism so in their minds it is the one thing government CAN'T DO.

the truck stop at least it outside the main town over there away from the center  and it does bring alot of trucks in there I mean havin lots of trucks has got to be good for the economy, right?
