Someone told me that they have been trying to call Town Hall 355-7575 for the last hour and they keep getting a busy signal.   What....is it off the hook?

I hear that the union receptionist hired to answer the phone at Town Hall is out sick, and FDG cannot delegate the responsibility of answering the phone to other Town Hall workers because it isn't in the contract.  So they left it off the hook until the receptionist can get back to work, or they renegotiate the contract.

The Town Hall's phone is automated -- not answered by a receptionist --   and the civil service person who works in the Supervisor's Office is NOT a receptionist .. her job duties cover a lot of other things ..........and besides .. there is a Confidential Secretary in the office who should also be able to answer the phones.

Frank is probably out in Kansas or Alaska hunting some poor animal or looking for another candidate for town clerk.

The automated Town Hall phone isn't protected by the union contract?  That phone probably gets more paid time off than I do.

It's covered in the same union as Obama's Autopen and Teleprompter

And this discussion regarding typists, etc..,pay raises, lay offs....

The TH or whoever answers any phone in any office...should have the ability of another employee  answering
the phone...in big business the phones automatically transfer to another "working" employee...if only to take a message.....get real and up to date....

Never heard of such a thing.....just another ploy to make FDG look bad....

TIME STUDY FOR ALL CLERICAL, ETC., JOBS.....AND CROSS TRAINING NECESSARY.....TO HECK WITH A
CONTRACT

The taxpayers deserve a better explanation than was given.....and FDG is not away....

There has NEVER been a problem with finding someone to answer the phone -- during lunches or sick days or vaations -- in the Supervisor's Office in the past .  If the Confidential Secretary is there she should answer the phone .  If the Supervisor is there --- he could answer the phone.  The fact is that he is probably NOT there.

For the record,  the civil service employee who does work in the Supervisor's office is a wonderful person and does her job well.   She is the ONLY person working in the Supervisor's Office who is actually competent and doing the job for which he or she was elected or hired to perform.

Any accusations from Frank DelGallo or anyone else that she is doing any less than an great job -- is just a flat out lie --   and if any one wishes to pursue attempting to soil her good name, reputation and excellent work ethic  ... i'd be happy to meet you outside town hall and settle the matter.

And the phones are automated....why??????

You can walk into the rotterdam town hall at any given time of day and you can't find a soul!!! All you can hear are crickets chirping. And when you finally do find someone, they are sitting and chit chatting with other employees.

There are more then enough folks doing 'nothing' at that town hall to answer phones!!! Ridiculous!!!
