Compromising and cutting funding for town infrastructure in favor of continuing to pay for over paid cops.  This should play well politically on the heels of two votes with huge turnout, where the taxing districts for first responders was overwhelmingly voted down.

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Well- it is a TRUE MIRACLE! They didn't cut any jobs, they didn't touch the fund balance, they restored and added raises and made sure everyone gets theirs and they DID IT WITHOUT RAISING TAXES (this year)!!! HOORAY!!!

What they did was simply raid any fund balances in the special districts! When major repairs and upgrades are needed- WATCH OUT! But they figure will be after election day, anyway. So now they are going to let the culture of overspending suck up any juice in the districts which will systematically creep towards insolvency as this will become the norm. Of course it was pointed out "Everybody does it." Correct, and everybody is deeply in debt and drifting toward a slow and steady bankruptcy!

As a political move, it was smart as long as they don't care about the future (and the democraps don't) because the public is not sophisticated enough as a whole to see this is a relplication in some way at the local level of what Mario Cuomo did by having the state "sell off" things to special authorities. It is like a steady "one shot" that may actually be a two-shot of three-shot, or whatever it takes to get through the next election cycle without making the hard choices of getting overhead under control

The other gimmick I noticed was that they actually reduced heating and electricity and maintenance costs next year simply by "willing them" to be lower. Apparently taking the heating bill in Town Hall from $17,000 down to $10,000 can be accomplished by turning the thermostat down a degree (or 20) so that is another genius way they can say "WE CUT TAXES" at least until next year. Very tricky gimmicks and I can see not one of those folks have proved they can only operate in the government world. Reading a real balance sheet or operating any sort of physical plant seem remote to them. Heating and electricity can't be "prayed lower." But these folks sure can draft a budget that "cuts" those costs, even if they have to run over in all areas and take it out on the taxpayer next year. Ahhhhh, the miracle it all is!

So lets see if Mason is buying it, and I am bet he will see it as a second coming without realizing the madness of the scheme. But I assume this buys them the title of "tax cutters" or some such thing for the election and they already have the fliers printed up!

I heard everybody's faces (except dm and the cops) were frozen in place. Residents were NOT happy!!

And what did anyone expect from ND.....she was obviously taking her q's from the smiling HB!

You can only rob from Peter to pay Paul for so long and eventually the bill comes due and we the taxpayers are going to be left holding the bag with the bill in it.

Pretty soon all rotterdam will have left is an expensive overpaid police dept that even the taxpayers won't be able to afford. Looks like the city has moved in to rotterdam. The rotterdam government is becoming too expensive and irresponsible for the residents. If this kind of irresponsibility and corruption is left to continue.......rotteramains will be walking away from their homes just like they are doing in the city!

And remember this, when Peter comes to collect, he comes in the shape of Jimmy Conway, complete with a phone cord that he'll try to strangle you with while screaming "...........gimme my money!!! I want my fu**in' money!!!.....". Peter always gets his money one way or another.

Observations from meeting

1. ND prompted by TJ from the audience from his cell.  Chosen to be the bully.   where were thw TB males??

2.  Mirror, mirror on the wall....   have any of these jokers actually seen their faces in the mirror???

3.  DM is a egomaniac, with a facade that is so not real....needs some deep therapy

4.  The HB and gang.......double dipping greedy ...look on the inside...might not be so pretty

5.  FDG deserves respect just for the fact that he shows up...speaks his mind...standing up to the bullies.

6.  Budget based on what has been historically drawn up from departments, employees....I call what happened
a travisty of common sense....and these people are all DICTATORS....take take take

...a schmuck on wheels...I LOVE THAT MOVIE! Then later he gets an ice pick in the back of the head during "White Room" when he sits in the car, right? But really, the government isn't a lot different and is actually worse. THEY WANT THE MONEY AND THEY WANT IT ALL WITH INTEREST NOW IN ONE LUMP SUM- NO F'N PARTIAL PAYMENT! At least with a loan shark, you can stave off getting broken kneecaps if you give him half now, with the GOVERNMENT- THEY TAKE YOUR F'N HOUSE NOW IF THEY DON'T GET IT ALLLLLLLLLLLL!
