Apparently the Rotterdam Senior Association or the Senior Center itself decided to host a candidate forum for the upcoming elections several days ago, and it has come to the attention of many in the past 24 hours that they failed to invite anyone BUT THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY CANDIDATES!

Making matters worse, the Democrats are going all out to now claim "The Republicans refused to attend!" in order to vilify the Republicans as being "against the seniors." I am not sure that the local news will carry this story even though it smacks of utter dirty tricks and continued unfairness, yet it must be discussed in this forum as the forum is the last bastion of free speech left in Rotterdam that has not been taken over by the county or town Democrats. I am aware that the president of the Rotterdam Seniors is a Democratic Committeeman, but I am not sure that it was his fault, but I certainly would like to know WHO was it that thought it would be fair or impartial to only allow one side to come to the town center to speak, when in fact the correct thing to do would be to allow BOTH sides to air their platforms.

I am calling on anyone who knows anything about it to come forward and post information on who was behind it and when it occurred. Also, who is the responsible party for politicizing the town senior citizens center?

Rotterdam has a long history of being a "one-party town" where the Democratic Party has its tentacles into many of the organizations. This one must be any exception. But it is wrong, and corrupt for this to happen. Americans still believe in fairness, and this IS NOT FAIR.

take over the Center....politics  with false accusations, slander and maniac behavior discrimination and favoritism

The FACT is that ALL the candidates were invited --- and some chose NOT to attend.

Which one "chose" not to attend, and WHO did the inviting? Because NOT ONE REPUBLICAN WAS INVITED AND NO ONE HERE ON THIS FORUM KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL YOU (DVOR) BLABBED OUT THAT THERE WAS SOME FORUM THAT THE REPUBLICANS DID NOT ATTEND?

Desperate times call for desperate measures. And the dems are desperate. Well at least the REIGNITE ones are. Wonder if the dems will show up at the LWV's forum on oct 18 at the rotterdam library.

Rotterdamians would love a replay of hearing the eloquence from Excusi!

EVERY candidate was invited -- and the Republican and "pool party" candidates did not attend.

The event at the Sr Center was not properly advertised for ALL town residents to attend.

Say what you want or think but this was not a fair forum from the get go.

Selective participation and I don't believe that there was a proper invite for all concerned.

The Democratic Senior Citizens Association should be ashamed. Americans respect fair play, not underhanded "gotcha" tactics like this. DVOR and DM may think "Gotcha" is good politics, but the residents don't appreciate the snide, too-cute-by-half attitude and trickster ways.
