Ghetto Chopper? Not even close, if you want that, go to the Eastern Parkway chopper...no comparison.

Is the Altamont ave chopper getting seedier? yes...blame it on the Walmart and CDTA bus line effect.

I wouldn't say that you could blame it on the Wal-Mart only for the reason that the Hannaford would be more that way than the Price Chopper strictly based on the fact that Hannaford is in the same plaza.

I think it's the "Schenectady is too close and moving in" effect.

Agreed.. the key is that Mount Pleasant is the new Hamilton Hill..maybe even worse.

I do shop at Price Chopper here.  Only because its on my my to and from work.  But my father shops at Hannaford.  I prefer Price Chopper for the veggies and the fruit.  He buys his and then I go to PC and buy mine and we compare.  I do most of my monthly shopping at BJs though.

Ghetto Chopper?

I thought I was the only one to call PC that and felt guilty    I usually shop at the Eastern Parkway one and it's awful. If I can get a ride to the one by Mohawk Mall it's amazing the difference.

The past year or so I noticed at the EP one the food is very close to expiration date and alot of times past it. I really think that alot of the stuff thats ready to be "tossed" is sent there.

These stores are getting a little ghetto, however the worst one I ever seen was the one near Washington Park in Albany, that one is ghetto What was the name of that small grocery store that used to be on Crane St. years ago next to Cumberland Farms? anyone remember that place.

PC fruits and veggies have been poor quality lately...the past year anyhow.....the slowing grind of trade will bring crappy choices to us.....

$6.00 for a loaf of rye bread....and the CPI isn't up? that's because they took it out of the equation..... however I have never seen so many
overweight 'poor' people.......they are just as large as Warren Buffet the Fat Cat.......

I spent many years working for a contractor doing various remodels in Price Choppers in NYS and Mass. and PA. between 1980 and 1997. The only store that was considered a "Ghetto Chopper" was the one on Delaware Ave. in Albany. Heck even the VP's and higher ups at PC used that term when speaking of that store. Believe me any others referred to as "Ghetto Chopper" don't even come close. Armed robbery, people opening beers and drinking 'em on the spot, guys getting high by opening whipped cream and inhaling the propellant. Great place to be.
