I don't get it....you guys hate politicians you all say the politicians make stupid decisions so this time they leave the decision to the PEOPLE and you get pissed off about that too????????????? At least get your story straight...

What prompted the "politicians" after decades without an EMS taxing district, to now all of a sudden in December of 2010, during one of America's worst recessions, decide to hold a referendum for an EMS taxing district?

The "PEOPLE" never desired a taxing district(2 to 1)...The only "people" that desired a taxing district were those that were going to directly benefit financially and politically.

How would anyone profit financially it was non profit...the officers werent paid there'd be no difference.........The taxing district would have funded equipment only and it was a valid question it didnt come up in 2010 this fu9king question has been going on since constintino was supervisor it is about time it finally got settled and puts an end to the question!!!!!!

It was NEVER A QUESTION!!!  Nothing had to be settled...Rotterdam paid $30K to hold a vote, to answer a question that never needed answering...It was politically motivated...There is ALS money unaccounted for, and $10K per month($120K) gone into the pockets of the REMS...Now all of a sudden REMS doesn't need $10K per month, OR a taxing district...

And you're telling me this taxing district wasn't a politically motivated sham?  Please

This isn't about the REMS, this is about special interests trying to push an unwanted taxing district onto the unsuspecting residents of Rotterdam.

Before electing the next town board, residents of Rotterdam better be damn sure they know where their board member statnds on the EMS taxing district issue.  Like Batman said in a earlier post, this has been going on since the Constantino days, it is very unlikly that it is going away that easily.

The people of Rotterdam are beginning to wake up to who the special interests that have been in control of Rotterdam.  Now we need to make sure they stand up and are being counted.

Actually, my issue with Tonko is that he wouldn't know what an honest day's work was if it bit him in the a$$.  The man is a government figurehead that spends money like it's going out of style so he can say that he's there, shaking hands and kissing babies, but when it comes to nuts and bolts time, he is nowhere to be seen, as in getting down and actually doing some work.  You won't see him helping others (unless it's taking somebody's money to give to someone else), but you'll see him praising people for doing things, things that he would never think of breaking a sweat doing.  I also find it quite interesting that he's being seen all around, EXCEPT in his former Assembly district.  Maybe this is because he's sure he's got the votes there for eternity to stay in office until he decides otherwise and he needs to pander other places.  Tell you what, I will change my story when I see him out of his suit helping to dig people out and cleaning out houses in Rotterdam Junction.  Until then, he's just an empty suit.
