I took a walk around the block this evening and noticed two more houses for sale since Monday. I feel sorry for the sellers. There are so
many listings, they are going to have a hard time getting any money out of their homes. Maybe the economic development gurus or
city government should be asking these people what made them throw in the towel. You can't have a vibrant downtown without vibrant
neighborhoods, IMO.

This includes a DEM City councilman's home! Anyone want it-with the Schenectady City schools? lol Hundreds of properties for sale in the City with dozens of commercial properties for sale in renaissance Downtown. It's so bad that longtime DEM County Leg Cousin Vinny DiSarbo fled and he couldn't even wait until the end of his term to run to Saratoga County. First he voted to weaken Rotterdam at the County.

All the chickens are coming home to roost for the DEMS. The DEM morons failed to follow State law and plan for pensions costs. They are totally out of ideas and keep handing out political lob jobs to out of towners.

I'll tell you, go to a realtor's website, like realtyusa or coldwell, and make a screenshot of some houes you are more familiar with, save the file and date it "info as of."    Go back to the same webste every month of so and when the price is reduced as it most definitely will be, make another screen shot.  And keep doing that.   Then in a year's time probably, perhaps you'll have 4, 5 versions and put it in a presentation, save it, post it on these boards showing the continuous price reductions and long time unsold.

Then a year and half from now, post it and we'll ask DV why the house has not sold and why the asking prices are constantly reduced if Schenectady is this in this wonderful renaissance that he claims.  We'll have to ask him why no one is buying a house in the city if the city is so good as he clams.  Funny, DV is about the only one who claims the city is getting better.   But if it's getting so much better, what is his explanation for homeowners trying to flee the city in droves and why hardly any houses are selling

Why bother, he's not a taxpayer, he wouldn't understand.   Some people prefer government dictatorships, one party rule, and government businesses, government theaters, government gin mills, etc.

The "gurus" will says something like "We don't have enough parks and we need to spend more money." or something equally false. Government lies. They lie all the time and then attack the citizens for being honest. So much for gurus.

GB, stop spreading mis-information.  I mean that's just silly.

What they really will be saying is we need more public rail transportation.

House of the Week: A Victorian in Schenectady
June 10, 2011 at 12:00 am by Chris Churchill, staff writer

This week’s house is a grand structure and a testament to the affordability of the Schenectady housing market. (Click on the photo to launch a gallery of images.)

The home at 1077 University Place (map), has an asking price of $309,900. Annual taxes are an estimated $11,800, according to the real estate agent. The house has five bedrooms and 3,400 square feet of space, along with with hardwood floors, three fireplaces, cherry hand-crafted walls, original woodwork, stained glass, a butler’s pantry, pocket doors, a balcony, a portico and a three-car garage................>>>>.......................>>>>.......................http://blog.timesunion.com/realestate/

LOL! No we need a "multi-modal" bike path. Right we have one of those. It's the DEM taxes stupid. 35 straight years of DEM "led" City Council's have put the residents in a jam. Too much spending-too many Cousin Vinny's on the City payroll who live outside the City.

Good points MC1. The same properties sit and sit and sit for years. Look how long it took Super Elys to unload. At least the interim Super can stay in Clifton Park. And they want to build condos at ALCO?

OMG.....what a shame! This home is beyond beautiful! But let's be honest here folks....if yer gonna spend $300K on a house, with $11K taxes......it ain't gonna be in the city of schenectady. This house would be worth well over $500K if it were located in Saratoga or Clifton Park or Loundonville or even Guilderland!!! But in the city??? NAH!

Saratoga is selling condos 'right in the city' for $1M!! And folks are buying them!

That house would be over a million in Saratoga, a place that Ron Severesen claims is a worse place than Schit City.

Meanwhile in Miracle City (the only miracle being that DEMS get reelected to anything) every condo plan has gone belly up. The funniest was Anthony St by the sewage plant. The DEMS morons all cheered this as evidence of renaissance. Had to hold your nose and wallet. Cut down hundreds of trees and sold 2 condos.

The fact that it was put up in the TU like that is indicative of the seller'a last desparate act in an attempt to sell it.

Next question   Why isn't it listed wth property data in the county?

A frat or sorority should purchase this mansion. Then with nonprofit status they can yank it off the City tax rolls. Pull a Proctor's. The funniest part is who the seller is. Another DEM chump who talked a good game and kept ripping off the oppressed taxpayers. Everyone's talking about this latest DEM tax morons poster child.

I have never claimed any city or area was better or worse than any other.   I have said that there are gangs and crime in Saratoga County ... and yes -- in Saratoga Springs.    And the fact is -- those areas are NOT immune from crime and gangs.

Joe Surhada (GB) is just a sore-loser and an a**.  He run over by the Democratic ticket in 2009  and knows that he was an impotent member of the County Legislature --- he made such a fool of himself in politics that not even the desperate GOP would run him for anything ever again.   So he is doomed to a life of selling "pooh by the pound".

“And yet our opponents tell us not to interfere with abortion. They tell us not to impose our morality on those who wish to allow or participate in the taking of the life of infants before birth. Yet no one calls it imposing morality to prohibit the taking of life after a child is born. We’re told about a woman’s right to control her own body. But doesn’t the unborn child have a higher right, and that is to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?” – Ronald Reagan

No, Saratoga isn't immune to crime..but people still want to live there.

The City of Schenectady is rampant with crime and people don't want to live there.

A change has to happen. The City has to take back the streets, police have to be on the beat on the Hill, in MP and in Bellevue. Have you ever been to the Hill at 10:30 pm? Young kids are riding their bikes, little kids are running the streets, hookers are everywhere and there are NO police...anywhere. Criminals stay where the police won't get them and Schenectady has become a haven.

The City has to lower taxes. Families need to be able to afford a home and landlords will rent to  ANYONE if they can't afford the taxes. The City needs to be respectful to the homeowners, the people who pay their salaries and stop giving money away to businesses who give NOTHING back in return. The neighborhoods need to be addressed and cared for, not ignored and taxed to death.
