And you'll never guess who owns the building...the same 'developer' who owed back property taxes on the Becker Drive parcels.   Wonder who was running the tobacco business?

I believe they are all seized.  I passed another one in Latham that was seized also.

don't think so. I 'think' Gators was bought out by this other 'duke bazzel'.............I THINK!

And the owner of the building has nothing to do with this unless they are DUKE BAZZEL!

Tobacconist’s assets may be sold if taxes not paid
BY JUSTIN MASON Gazette reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Justin Mason at 395-3113 or jmason@dailygazette.net.

Officials from the state Department of Taxation and Finance are threatening to auction off the assets of a local tobacconist if tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid sales and excise taxes aren’t paid shortly.
The locations of Duke Bazzel Tobacco and Lounge on Altamont Avenue in Rotterdam and Route 9 in Colonie were seized by the state in early May. State offi cials determined the company owes $27,066 in back taxes, not including interest and penalties.
And without a quick resolution, an auction could be forthcoming. Susan Burns, a spokeswoman for the tax department, said an auction is scheduled for June 20, when all of the company’s remaining assets will be liquidated.
“At any time before the conclusion of this auction, we could reach an agreement with the taxpayer to resolve the liability,” she said Thursday.
Auction items include furniture and computers from the store, but none of the tobacco products. Burns said all tobacco was seized by the state after the business was shut down, and will be kept as evidence during the ongoing investigation.
“That would not be part of the contents,” she said.
The company is owned by Brian Vrooman of Schenectady, according to state Department of State records. A phone listing for him was no longer in service; phones at both the Rotterdam and Colonie stores were disconnected. ..................>>>>.......................>>>>..........................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00803&AppName=1

No suprise here, they were going for a very small audience, of mostly older men. Then they advertise like they are selling to 20 year olds. From the moment this place opened I was counting the days until its inevitable demise.
