Robert Farley says he won't seek re-election to county Legislature
Wednesday, May 4, 2011
By Justin Mason (Contact)
Gazette Reporter

SCHENECTADY — Schenectady County Legislator Robert Farley announced he'll bow out of politics after his term concludes this year.
The legislature's Republican minority leader said he won't run for re-election this fall, drawing an end to a career in county politics that lasted for 18 years. In reaching his decision, Farley said he no longer believes he has the time to properly serve the public as an elected official.
"It's all personal circumstances," he said during a meeting at The Daily Gazette's offices Wednesday afternoon......................>>>>.................>>>>..................http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2011/may/04/0504_farley/

County Legislator Farley won't run again
By Paul Nelson Staff writer
Published 10:45 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2011

SCOTIA -- After nearly two decades as a Schenectady County Legislator, Republican Robert Farley is calling it quits so he can devote more time to his family and passion for teaching.

Farley, who has served as minority leader, said Wednesday that he made his decision not to seek another four-year term in November after conferring with his family and felt now was a good time because of the pool of qualified GOP candidates that have emerged on the county political scene.

"I have a comfort level that good talented people can come in and succeed me," said Farley who represented the District 3 communities of Glenville, Niskayuna, and Scotia.

Reflecting on his political career which dates back to 1993, Farley said he preferred to view his accomplishments within the context of what he achieved as part of a team of politicians and community leaders....................>>>>...................>>>>..................Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/defa.....20.php#ixzz1LTN06byM

Maybe we'll see our taxes come down now.  Besides Karen Johnson (who I believe is the legislator that actually works for Proctors), Bob Farley was one of the biggest cheerleaders for Proctors, constantly stating how a town / city is built around the theater.  Between that and being an advocate and penning the bill for the creation of the Metroplex, it doesn't show much conservatism.  Besides those points, he was good legislator who would actually let you tell him what you thought and appeared to be thinking about it. He was / a New York Conservative, one of those that they would call a left-wing liberal in the south.

Another incumbent out.

What does that mean?  I believe that Bob Farley is a registered Republican.  And, IMHO, not a conservative in word or deeds.

Especially grunting. When Mr. Quail first said he was going for an all DEM County Legislature we thought he was kidding. Even Albany County isn't this bad.

“And yet our opponents tell us not to interfere with abortion. They tell us not to impose our morality on those who wish to allow or participate in the taking of the life of infants before birth. Yet no one calls it imposing morality to prohibit the taking of life after a child is born. We’re told about a woman’s right to control her own body. Of course he accomplished nothing. Just like JS. The democons made sure of that!
Ya can't accomplish much when you are locked out of the process.
BF and JS had some excellent conservative common sense ideas that were not even given the light of day.
The municipalities they represented had NO fair representation at all! Thanks to the democons.
The democons on that county leg. is shameful and an embarrassment and clearly not fairly representative of their constituents.

I'm not praising him by any means, BUT, his metroplex idea did NOT include exempting all the downtown places from ever paying property taxes.  And the PROOF of that, DV, is in looking at OFFICIAL RECORDS where the earlier metroplex projects had generally only partial exemptions for a specfiied number of years.  But YOUR SOCIALIST dems have handed out 100% (and greater) property tax exemptions WITH NO END DATE!

Now, explain DV, HOW, tell us HOW can financially struggling homeowners pay every increasing tax bills because  the taxes of the millionaires were shifted to the financially struggling homeowners?

And WHY are you not moving into the city?????    Why do you REFUSE to answer that question.  You praise the city so much, but YOU, the BIG HYPOCRITE, are not buying a house in the city.   Why not????     WHy to you praise a city that you refuse to live in??????   Would you answer that question or are you too chicken.
