Get the years of "lost" ALS money, and the Town Clerk's salary back, the unnecessary REMS vote expense, and then come talk to us about tax base.  You people have thrown away more money than you could ever dream of in the tax base.  The Town lost the Golub offices to downtown, and replaced that lost tax base with a relocated road and an accoustical wall that's backwards!

LOL

The "lost" ALS money problem started BEFORE this Town Board took office on January 1, 2010 -- certainly something must be done on the issue -- and you know that I have been saying publicly for months that we shouldjust sign an ALS agreement with BOTH  REMS and Mohawk -- so at  least we get the CURRENT ALS revenue that should be coming in.

Golub decided to move its offices into the city during the years the GOP controlled the Town Board -- not ONE of the Democrats currently on the Board was on the Board when that decision was made --- so blaming the Democrats is a flat out attempt to distort the truth  or lie .. and coming from you -- it is most probably just a flat out lie.

Legally -- there is no way to get a salary back from an elected town official --  so again ... you are blowing alot of hot air on that issue.

Finally -   the tax district vote was necessary to decide the issue ... in a democracy .. which those of us on this side believe in --- we go to the people on important issues.   You and the GOP would rather just bark orders and have everyone goosestep  to your authoritarian demands.

Let's not forget to add the price of the new blinking light that's sitting there with no reason to be on, draining electricity and costing money, along with the relining of the road that nobody followed, and therefore before the road even opens, they're going to have to repaint the lines.  And please don't call the accoustical wall that, maybe we should rename it the Rotterdam Wall. Hey, it worked in Berlin for years, right?

Comparing that wall to the Berlin Wall is just goofy.     Maybe you and Kelly and MC and GB and MT would have a hard time figuring out how to walk around the wall .. but thankfully the rest of us in town are brighter than that.

I wasn't saying that it WAS the Berlin Wall, separating 2 parts of the town, I was saying it was going to be a famous (or infamous) wall, just as the Berlin Wall.

Never knew I was on TV . . .   What's your positive contribution, I mean besides more Democrap B.S., and double dipping the taxpayers to push up your retirement!

ROTFLMAO  If you call collecting a Social Security and a pension double dipping then 3/4 of the town is double dipping.  I have stated before and will again.......I am not who you think I am.  Jerkyboy!  I guess the Mertz neighborhood comment got under your skin eh?  Perhaps?     So predictable!

The ENTIRE town has to live with the results of high property taxes if we continue to say no to reasonable development projects.

And I do care about whether the result turn out well or not -- so.. again .. you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine on the subject.

so 'reasonable' would be 'the banking strip' of altamont ave....how F'EN prosperous of us....what an embarassing joke....I just cant
wait for Saturday morning to go 'bank hopping' down Altamont....maybe they will have those food vendor/samplers like at BJ's....
OMG! I'm just sooooo excited...then,,,,at noon or one after the banks close I can go to Recovery Room and partake in the bread
breaking and common swill....then when I'm all good and liquored up I could go and sign a lease at any number of the MFRH
proving I have income by the 10 savings accounts I just opened that morning.....what a day......I'm tired out.....

there aint nuthin' new under the sun and THERE SURE AS HELL AIN'T NUTHIN' NEW IN THIS TOWN

Homes feed the economy and build better communities.....long term. Apartments with transits do not!

Apartments definitely do have their place. But not in an already established residential neighborhood.

I'm just curious to see whether the upper class in Rotterdam will get any better understanding then the Draper Area did when the Charter School was passed.

Who is the Upper class in Rotterdam?

When we moved here I remember having to sign special papers at the bankers place cuz we were not selling our old house in a town that in their opinion was a much better town.
They did not believe us when we told them we were moving to Rotterdam from this other town, which by the way is pretty much the same as yours seems to be.
Run by  the same sorta recycling group of Demoplicans and Republicrats, sign wavers and folks who just wanna tell others how to live.
The banker actually said eeew nobody moves to Rotterdam, hey I didn't care it seemed like a nice place to live it  says so right up there on the windmill sign,
(was this town founded by the Dutch?)

I really get a kick out of the shiny smiling politicians when they come by the house once a year or walk the big summer time parade on curry road.
Wow do them guys know how to dress or what! and man oh man they got the whitest teeth, they sparkle in the sun.
Big shots who when they meet me on the street or in the store would not give me the time of day.
But o boy come time for the Halloween ..err... uh, I mean election season,  they come right by the house, shake my hand, and tell me stories about how they are gonna fight for me.
hehehehhe   , I did not even know I was in a fight, till I met batman and robin last month
They told me the old guy is bad He don't care about me.
Next cycle I'll just tell em flip your $h1t past some other humble dwellin and put away that meat your sellin.

How bout that old tax dude,  don't remember his name but he was a big tower of a fella with a commanding presence. I went to a meeting and watched a kindly old man beg for mercy and the tax dude reamed him a new butt, he decimated the poor old guy just for asking why his taxes went up so much.
The tax dude did not tell him sorry old man we have to pay millions to have the town reassessed and this stuff don't come cheap even if they do screw it all up, and next year we gotta redo it again besides WE have not raised your taxes in years.
It is too complex and intricate for you to understand WE are giving you a deal at any price we just double the price and give ya half off.

I wondered why would they not use local realtors to asses the town would they not know the value of stuff?
Now there was an opportunity missed for the locals. But these rulers minds are way too superior to question.
Did ya get that? WE have not raised your taxes in years. Well golly  forgive me you A$$holiness.
That is the deal with 'authorities it is THEY and we.

What if they have an election and nobody comes?
Where would they get their power from?
They snag us like that every time once we pull that lever or flip that switch or whatever new way they have to gain our consent it's game over.
It does not matter all that much what face in on the tag not much will change, the names will change but the system remains.

Expand the tax base ......that is a good one!!!
There is hope for your town in that their are a fair number of liberty minded even anarchist young people around (if they stay).
What ya could do to lessen the tax burden is all the rulers sell there houses and move into the new apartments, the developer can give them a cut rate and probably get a state or federal grant for providing low income housing to public servants.
It is all  forced voluntary money from folks we don't know anyway they won't notice.

We didnt come this far to get this far.

This Zone Change is a GO

He indicated that he (and the rest of the board) will approve the zone change and apartment buildings on Feuz road.

But the plan changed from 5 units totaling 18 units to 2 larger buildings with 8 units each (16 total).

What a way to Destroy a Neighborhood

I think this is an interesting example of why the electorate has to be informed, involved, and vigilant.  Incredible that such a small entourage of politicrats have the powers to devalue entire neighborhoods in violation of Comprehensive Plans and zoning districts.  I guess that's what Election Day is for. . .
