Actully, the current location of the newest gin mill is where they wanted to move the town offices / police / EMS to. This would be even farther from where it would need to be.

Again -- get your facts straight --- the other proposal for a new town hall and police station was Curry Road Shopping Center NOT the old Capitol Plaza.
“And yet our opponents tell us not to interfere with abortion. They tell us not to impose our morality on those who wish to allow or participate in the taking of the life of infants before birth. Yet no one calls it imposing morality to prohibit the taking of life after a child is born. We’re told about a woman’s right to control her own body. But doesn’t the unborn child have a higher right, and that is to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?” – Ronald Reagan

Maybe you should remember some facts every once in a while and not denounce everything that some people bring. Maybe back up some of your comments with facts.
Whether it was an official proposal or not, it was a proposal that was brought to the public... and THAT'S a FACT!
Re Aug. 1 article, “Walgreens backs out of Capitol Plaza”: Since Walgreens has definitely decided not to purchase Capitol Plaza on Curry Road, many residents of Rotterdam are of the opinion that the town should consider purchasing this property for the construction of a new, centrally located, state-of-the-art public safety building that would house the Rotterdam Town Court and police station. Anyone who visits the courts in surrounding towns in our county or adjacent counties can easily see that our present facilities are antiquated, insufficient and a fire trap, as well as being dangerous to the litigants, attorneys and court staff. Our town court, police and residents deserve much better. I am asking that the town board consider purchasing the property to construct a public safety building that we can be proud of, one that would take us out of the 18th century and bring us into the 21st century. A suggestion in a Letter to the Editor is NOT a proposal ... just a suggestion. So to say it was a proposal is not a fact.
It is a fact that several sites have been or are being considered for a Municipal Center -- the V Stream property, the Curry Road Shopping Plaza and the old Grand Union .... at one time the "Burdeck St triangle" was even under consideration.

Sorry, I guess I'll have to look somewhere else for a definition of proposal. Could you tell me the definition?
Here's what dictionary.reference.com states it is:
Quoted Text
pro·pos·al /prəˈpoʊzəl/ Show Spelled [pruh-poh-zuhl] Show IPA
–noun 1. the act of offering or suggesting something for acceptance, adoption, or performance.
See, and who was I to think that a proposal and a suggestion were the same. Just let me know what the actual definition is, PLEASE. I want to be educated.

What I am saying is that .. it was just a suggestion in a letter to the editor and was NEVER considered seriously as an option. Capitol Plaza would not have been big enough for a town hall and police station.
"Grand Union site" has been been tossed around for a Town Hall and Police Station site ... other than the fact that it is way on the southern end of the town --- the site does have a few advantages.

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
