Cermak: Buffardi may run for Rotterdam town supervisor
Updated 08:51 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2011

Harry Buffardi, retired Schenectady County Democrat sheriff, says he's seriously considering running for Rotterdam town supervisor in November.

"I thought I had turned the page in life and moved to another chapter, but I'm being recruited for the job by party people and others,"" Buffardi said. "Talks are continuing."

He is widely known for being a no-nonsense police officer during his 36-year law enforcement career. After retiring two years ago, Buffardi became a criminal justice assistant professor at Schenectady County Community College. Since the supervisor job is part-time, he said he could handle both positions.

"Some friends tell me being supervisor is nothing but problems, but that isn't a factor for me. As sheriff, I dealt with tough problems often."

If Buffardi enters the race, the move would thin out a crowded field of aspirants to replace Democrat Supervisor Frank DelGallo, who has lost support from party bosses.

Brian McGarry, of the No New Taxes Party, said he is definitely running. Democrat Councilman Wayne Calder has supporters for a candidacy.

Councilwoman Nicki DiLeva, a Conservative cross endorsed by Democrats in her last election, has shown interest. DiLeva, a former Republican county legislator, talked about seeking GOP support for the supervisor race.

Well here you go folks....it was said on this board that WC would not be looking to take the Super's job.  I still believe that based on people close to Calder.  (who are not related to JP)

Every DEM will fall in line behind Harry. WC trial balloon has officially burst. Why he would want it is another question.

March 1 is the deadline to submit your letter of interest to the Democratic Committee -- if you are planning to seek their endorsement.    Then interviews --  then it is up to the full committee to make its endorsements later in March or April.

“And yet our opponents tell us not to interfere with abortion. They tell us not to impose our morality on those who wish to allow or participate in the taking of the life of infants before birth. Yet no one calls it imposing morality to prohibit the taking of life after a child is born. We’re told about a woman’s right to control her own body. But doesn’t the unborn child have a higher right, and that is to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?” – Ronald Reagan

Buffardi is just another re-run!! The new young rotterdamians want 'new' not 'old' names and faces. They are sick and tired of the same old bullcrap! Nor do they want cops running their town. They want BM....plain and simple!

Buffardi will blow any other candidate out of the water.  Is there a Rep who might be interested?  Tell Buchanan get off the this board and find a candidate who might have a chance.  McGarry won't win.  ND won't win.  Buffardi will do it.  What kind of a super he'll be is another question.  But he's got the name recognition (so did FDG) and enough folks who remember his efforts and applaud them.

if you are a kid here's a lesson.....dont always follow the pack....the sheople in front isn't looking up because it's to busy stuffing
it's mouth full of grass while grazing and the others just follow(even getting hit in the head with sheople poo)...then the cliff
is in front of them and........it's too late.....the history of Rotterdam

moral of the story....learn from those who were there before you but never never never stay lock-step with them....there ain't nothing
new under the sun for human nature, but the times are changing....make them your own....life is REALLY SHORT

Buffardi weighing run for supervisor
BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter

Rotterdam Democrats have asked Harry Buffardi, a popular former Schenectady County sheriff, to run for supervisor in a bid to maintain control of town government.
Rotterdam Democratic Chairman Tony Jasenski said he has spoken to Buffardi about running, but that Buffardi has not committed to the race. “It is up to him,” Jasenski said.
Buffardi, a Democrat, said he is considering it. “I will have to make a decision soon. The process is starting now,” he said.
Buffardi said he is still active in politics and would consider tackling Rotterdam’s problems as a challenge. “There are some difficulties in Rotterdam. It has not reached its full potential. If I did do it, there are some things I could correct,” Buffardi said.
Buffardi resigned as sheriff last year to become a full-time professor at Schenectady County Community College. He was midway through his third term.
Jasenski said a Buffardi candidacy would give Democrats a strong ticket in November. “He would make a great candidate,” he said. .....................>>>>.....................>>>>..............http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01004&AppName=1
