Local woman wins
Miss New York City


   ROTTERDAM — Local resident Brittany Jasenski, 22, has won the first Miss New York City pageant held this past weekend.
    The inaugural pageant was held in Manhattan last Saturday and Sunday at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre and is unoffi cially considered as a preliminary pageant to the Miss New York USA Pageant. The members of the judging panel search for a young woman that demonstrates intelligence, beauty, poise, confidence, enthusiasm and communication skills, according to a news release. More than 20 contestants competed.
    For winning, Jasenski received a paid entry into the upcoming Miss New York USA Pageant, a one-year modeling contract, a trip to Las Vegas to watch the Miss USA Pageant in June and other prizes. Jasenski will make personal appearances throughout the year promoting her title at various New York City events and ceremonies.
    In November, Jasenski fi nished first runner-up at the 2011 Miss New
    York USA pageant in Albany.
    “To be named Miss New York City 2011 is such a prestigious honor, and to be the fi rst, that’s just unreal,” she said in a statement. “There’s so much hard work and preparation that goes into competing in a pageant such as this; this is so very rewarding. I look forward to representing New York City the best I can; it’s going to be lots of fun.”
    Her 16-year-old sister, Kylie Jasenski, a junior at Mohonasen High School, competed in the Miss New York City Teen 2011 pageant and won the title of Miss Photogenic and the Style Award. She received a plaque and a crown pin.
    Both sisters plan to compete again in the Miss New York USA and Miss New York Teen USA contests in November.
