The churches only have the resources that their members are willing and, more importantly, able to afford togive.

Yeah...Government can force you to give money you don't have to pay for programs you can't afford until you lose your home.

So you want the school bus to drop the kids off at a church or the city mission for breakfast and lunch ???

Also, I believe the responsibility of feeding the poor is EVERYONE'S responsibility both government and non-profits.

Oh -- and just where do the churches get the money to supply food ????    From the taxpayers through the collection basket.    The churches only have the resources that their members are willing and, more importantly, able to afford togive.

It is NOT the role of government to make sure everyone has breakfast!!!!!!OMG!
It is ultimately the job of the parents. If parents aren't feeding their children...then turn them in to the CPS.
Not feeding one's children is NEGLECT!!

Nobody, I said it is apparent based on your silly posts.  Maybe you do, but I doubt it.

What you described sounds just like Metroplex.  You don't have a problem with that.

We at least get to elect the County Legislators who appoint the Metroplex board.

And -- I ask -- how do you know that I don't have a problem with Metroplex's board not being elected directly by the voters ??????????????????????

If you go back a few months --- I posted that I believed that the Metroplex board should be dissolved and that the County Legislature should vote directly on all of the economic development matters which up until now have gone to the Metroplex board.
The only thing that I have siad positively about Metroplex is that I like some of the projects that they have funded.     So don't assume that you know what I am thinking or believe --- because you don't know.

DV, I tell you that you are wrong when you state incorrect information. You said that Schenectady needs to consolidate, and then you stated that the Governor supported this. Not true. Cuomo said that smaller schools (with 1,000 students or less) need to consolidate. Again, Schenectady has over 10,000 students, it is not a district the Governor is speaking of. He stated to cut admin in the larger districts and cut pensions in these larger districts - not via consolidation.

I don't hate you, I just hate the fact that you use false information to support your claims. Then you become angry when the facts are known and you look like a fool. Stop reading between the lines and start stating facts, not your own personal fiction.

OMG....the county leg should vote on economic development??? The metroplex/county leg/savage are one in the same!!
The metroplex needs to be desolved....NOW!! It failed and being the highest taxed county in the state is proof of that!!

The plex is just about out of money. Let's see who supports raising the ceiling during these very hard economic times!

I support having school choice or options for parents to send their children to school.

I would say that there have been some success stories and some failures when it has come to charter schools -- not just in New York but in other states.     The one in Arbor Hill comes to mind  and the one that was in the Draper school building ... loads of tax payer dollars wasted and no positive results.

When it comes to funding with tax payer dollars,  I believe that the taxpayers should be able to directly vote for the  board or body that makes any decisions on how the money is spent.

True. Both are leading the County into an abyss of economic failure. The LEG needs to get out of nursing homes and the welfare system. Metroplex has proven to be a failure and should be abolished.

I am focusing on doing something to make sure that the child is fed.   If there is neglect that is a matter
for CPS to deal with --- but there are parents who can't afford to put food on the table every morning.

At least, the votes get to directly elect the County Legislature --- the Metroplex Board never has to stand up and explain themselves to the voters  -----   that is a bad thing in a democracy.

This is a good point. Absolutely another reason why Metroplex should be abolished. It's taxpayer funded yet there is no taxpayer vote on who runs it.  But again, the LEG has no clue how to run business either. The private sector needs to be involved with economic development - get it out of government hands.
