GOP take control
Posted: Dec 04, 2010 12:58 PM

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Republicans will regain control of New York's senate after a recount completed Saturday handed control of a key seat on Long Island to the GOP candidate.

The final vote tally gave Republican Jack Martins a narrow win over Democratic Sen. Craig Johnson in the 7th Senate District in Nassau County.

Democrats went into the November elections with a 32-30 majority in the chamber. They have controlled the Senate for two tumultuous years.

Justice Ira Warshawsky (war-SHAW-skee) finished the re-count Saturday morning.

The action gives Republicans their only power base in the blue state where Democrats control every statewide position and the Assembly.

Now there is a bit of a brake on the runaway nonsense of the super-majority. For now.

Great news for Upstate taxpayers and the main reason why SS Savage was lanslided. We need fewer DEMS in the State Senate and Assembly.

I expect when Ms. Savage runs again in 2012 .. she will win the seat.

“And yet our opponents tell us not to interfere with abortion. They tell us not to impose our morality on those who wish to allow or participate in the taking of the life of infants before birth. Yet no one calls it imposing morality to prohibit the taking of life after a child is born. We’re told about a woman’s right to control her own body. But doesn’t the unborn child have a higher right, and that is to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?” – Ronald Reagan

I don't have that much faith in either party to make a hell of a difference in NYS! It's the welfare capital of the world combined by being run by the unions/special interest groups. I wouldn't be looking for any major changes in NYS anytime soon.

There are too few 'good ones' to make a substantial difference.

-LOL! What seat? SS Savage is finished in politics. Only the moron voters in Rozendale would vote for her for dog catcher. I hope the DEM "leadership" does run her again. They seem to have learned little from her humiliating landslide. She couldn't get 40% in this County!

SS Savage received $397,992 from the Democratic Senatorial Committee! Because of this other Senate DEMS lost. She couldn't win one County. Not even competitive.

Anyone that thinks she can run for anything again is totally lost. What she is selling-no one is buying.

Yeah, and Mary Beth Tinning will be elected Mother of the Year as well.

I wonder if he sat on Andy Cuomo's or Sheldon Silver's lap when they all went to Puerto Rico last month for their retreat? Another spin from the master of liars to make it sound like it is only Republicans that go on these trips when it is ALL state lawmakers from BOTH parties.

What else do you expect from a fool who has never done one thing of accomplishment or created one job in his entire existence on this planet, yet has an opinion on everything under the sun as if he is the Master of the Universe. Visions of grandeur and self-delusion thrive in your idle mind.

Fortunately with a Democrat in the Governor's Mansion and Democratic control of the State Assembly, we
can at least block the GOP from destroying what is left of New York State.   It will take years to get out from
the mess caused by 12 years of Pataki and 4 decades of the "Party of NO" .. blocking progress in the State
Senate.

This isn't a dem/rep issue! It is a bunch of politicians who just can't seem to keep their hands out of the cookie jar (taxpayer's wallets). A bunch of politicians who pander to the special interest/unions. Politicians who don't have the ba!!s to do the right thing. They are ALL the same!!

They ALL campaign with the same bullsh!t rhetoric and follow through on NOTHING!!
