Anyone else know why there is a helicopter practically hovering around the area of hamburg st./curry road, in the Bradt neighborhood?
It's been flying around here for like 45mins now? Weird! I hope there are no crazy psycho's on the loose.... Ohwait, it's election day....there probably are! But seriously, the helicopter is weird.

That usually happens when the police are looking for someone on the run.

I'd call the rpd and the spd and ask.

I'd still call and ask why this helicopter was flying so low and near elementary schools.

A lot of crap goes on that never sees the 'ink on newspaper print'!

Maybe Clinton's coming for a visit - or a news station reporting on turnout?  Maybe they're trying to film panthers at the door

By now this is old news...

"Rotterdam schools placed on lockout during chase; suspect arrested"
"A state police helicopter assisted in the search."

I assume this is what you saw.

It's so nice that the public has to PAY to read public safety announcements like this concerning our kids, when they're supposedly SAFE in school.

Every parent should be contacting the gazette over this crap

Wow, I'm just reading this now. I had no idea that the school was in lockdown. I have a child at Bradt too. Yikes.

If you'd pay for the information from the Gazette, you would have known.

Of course, there was an issue in Niskayuna today too - the Times Union was on that in 15 minutes and provided it FREE to the readers, the way it should be.

Two schools
locked as police
seek out suspect

ROTTERDAM — A police search that started in Guilderland and led to two Rotterdam schools being placed on lockout as a precaution ended in an arrest, police said.
The search began sometime before 9 a.m. on Carman Road in Guilderland, about two miles from the campuses of Mononasen High School and Draper Middle School in Rotterdam, Rotterdam Police Lt. Jason Murphy said.
That’s when Guilderland Police attempted to stop the individual and he fled. The man ended up in Rotterdam for a time and was arrested after a chase, Murphy said. Murphy was unsure where the man was taken into custody. A state police helicopter assisted in the search.
Murphy referred questions about the initial traffi c stop and the investigation to the Guilderland Police. Guilderland Police could not be reached for comment later Tuesday.
The search led to police notifying the schools through the school resource officer and both Mononasen High and Draper Middle School were placed on lockout at about 9 a.m.
The move was done as a precaution, officials said, there was no indication the suspect was ever on the campus and students weren’t in any immediate danger, school officials said in a statement. Lockout status means no one is allowed to leave or enter the building. The school day went on unaffected. The lockout was lifted at about 10:15 a.m.

Supremely managed public safety.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
